Can't get controllers to work
It says "full controller support" but I've tried two different controllers (GameCube controller through a Mayflash controller adapter, and a Nyko Airflo EX controller), and while both seem to work fine with Steam elsewhere, they're not working here. Exactly what kind(s) of controller(s) are usable?

"Full Controller Support" simply means that the game can be downloaded, launched, and played from Big Picture Mode without a keyboard and mouse.

Official Support Article:

That being said, the game works with XInput-based gamepads. If you don't have an XInput controller, you may need to resort to an XInput wrapper that translates DirectInput calls to XInput.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the quick response! I've never heard of XInput before, but I imagine I can google-fu up more information about it. If I can't get the wrapper-thingy to work, I'll probably just buy a new controller after work that has it built in or whatever.

Thanks again for the reply. I can't wait to actually play the game. :)

So I can't just plug in my playstation 3 controller and enjoy? Configuring controlllers for Skyrim was way too much for me couldnt do it.

PlayStation DualShock controller is a DirectInput-type device, so you'll need one of those XInput wrapper software to get it to work.

I have a SNES usb controller and I have it working with JoyToKey right now, just in case somebody is looking for another option! Basically it maps your keyboard commands to the controller.
For using the "pure" buzzword experience of the old mega mans, its odd that they left out supporting other controllers besides the xbox controller.

I'm using joy2key to use a Saturn controller. Working fine.

Thanks for the JoyToKey suggestion, guys. It seems to be working so far! :D

Google "SCP Drivers Dualshock" and you'll have an access to the drivers that'll make your DS3 work natively with your OS and be used as an Xinput controller. It even supports Dualshock 2 and 4!

It's a shame that the one platform where you could play this collection with an actual NES controller (through a USB adapter) doesn't have ingame support for the purest of control options.

Just get a X360 controller or if you really want to torture your hands: Logitech's F-series.

F510 works fine with this game. Just make sure the controller is in Xinput mode.

Kinda trash it wasn't just added game already has input lag could made it work with all controllers pretty lazy

It does work, with PC-native XInput controllers (aka the PC/Xbox standard, as Microsoft rules both). This is true for all games. Beyond that, it's up to you to make it across the final stretch.
