Someone is hacking the leaderboards
Since the thread from fuller556 is not getting any attention, I thought I'd mention it here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/363440/discussions/0/481115363872258223/

I want to bring it to the attention of the Capcom developers that there is a leaderboards hacker who is going through and setting an impossible time of 1 second on all of the leaderboards. What I am curious about is if this is something that can be fixed and if the hacker can be banned from posting to the leaderboards? Or do the developers even care about the leaderboards now that the game is out and has been for 2 months? Nothing makes me more angry than someone being blatantly dishonorable like this. Even if it is something "small" such as leaderboard hacking, I can sympathize with people who took them seriously and earned their great times. I don't want this game to turn into an "I told you so" when it comes to this happening.

Hopefully a dev sees this and gives some sort of info or something. If so, thanks, that'd be appreciated.

It's not only Mega Man though, other games have suspicious leaderboards as well. I couldn't care less, there isn't an achievement involved haha!

Personally I love leaderboards so I think this is very sad. MM9 and MM10's leaderboards were my favorite part of the game.

Any video game that has leaderboards there are going to be cheaters at the top.

Your right, look at most of them and you'll see impossible scores, absolutely ruined my enjoyment of Pool Nation, perhaps they've sorted it by now but I've lost interest. The problem is with a lot of games it's hard to tell until you play the game and find out what's possible.

Most of their PC game leaderboards end up like this. They never care. Vanilla SF4 had impossible scores on the challenges, RE5 mercs had impossible times, etc. It was so bad someone even named themself '9999 kings' or something in SF4 and proceeded to cheat all the leaderboards. Never banned or even got in trouble afaik.

I was wondering about that, myself. I saw the 1 second time and figured there was some type of glitch or exploit used. But when you watch the replay, the guy just keeps dying for 20 minutes and never does anything. Maybe the game itself doesn't register the hack?

My initial thought was that the game glitches out and registers the 1-second time if you just continuously die and fail the challenge, but another user seemingly confirmed that it's an actual hack of the leaderboard itself. Maybe there's meta data within the video that the user has found a way to alter? I have no clue at this point. I just know it needs to be fixed along with the game's actual glitches.

The leaderboard doesn't matter without visual proof anyways. Just upload videos

Seems Steam needs to provide a Steamworks API to improve the security of Leaderboard uploads.

These leaderboard hacks aren't just specific to Steam games. GTA V's online leaderboards for instance have race times that are only a few seconds, and that is for races that last several minutes even with a high-end supercar and master driving skills.

If you look at any of the best time replays in Megaman Legacy Collection you'll find that most of the "best" times are from people using the MM1 pause glitch, rapid fire, and other hacks/exploits. I watched one that was beaten using a clever set of macros. There are so many glitches and bugs in the Megaman series to exploit this has pretty much become a standard if you want a best time. Although people have perverted the leader boards it is pretty cool seeing how people exploited their way to the top.

Rapid fire doesn't work in MM1 - the enemy health will not decrement while another bullet is in contact with them. For funnies, go up to the miners in Guts Mans stage and turbo fire into them - they will never die.

MM1 has the pause glitch which is way more OP than rapid fire. Thank god though cause I always have a hard time with Yellow Devil lol.
