But good luck doing the buster-only challenges, the select trick won't do you any good!
When you pause with the select button, enemies' invincibility frames continue counting. So if you have a shot in their hit-box, then select-pause the game, after a second or two they won't be invincible anymore. But your shot will still be in their hit-box. So as soon as you unpause, they take damage again.
So, shoot at an enemy, and the moment the shot hits them, start pausing and unpausing over and over again with the select button. Do it right and you can one-shot-kill certain bosses.
Again, this is only in MegaMan 1. 2 through 5 don't have this trick.

Capcom and the devs dont think that way, even in challenge mode they are allowed (but I wanted a toggle in the main game and an achiviement for beating mega man 1 without the start trick).
Did it on Yellow Devil; maybe your execution is off
I think I used the wrong pause-type. :P
I thought it was established combos indeed were a glitch in Street Fighter II The World Warrior, as much as they ended up a major piece to its runaway success.
GTA started off as a glitch as well.
I guess GTA's huge success was all wrong this whole time.
