6 companions!?
The party roster looks like it can hold atleast 7 more. Is this more evidence of cut content like with the joke that is Act III?

Chill. 6 is plenty for the game right now.

There isn't even anyone to give your heavy armor to if you choose to go agility with your main character.

You're given 3 ranged/caster companions, who to give heavy armor to would just make them less effective, and your 3 melee companions are an agility who benefits more from having leather and two others who litteraly can not be given any armor at all.

It probably wouldn't have killed Obsidian to add one more companion to use as an armor rack.

I too noticed a lack of use for heavy armor and two-handed weapons if you didn't use them yourself. That said, I didn't mind it that much, since heavy armor is pretty underpowered anyway. It slows down everything you do, thereby slowing your level progression too. Barik is always lagging behind in experience even though he's your second companion.

The beastwoman can use 2-handed and Barik is rather good with them if you decide to go the damage-dealer tree instead of the walking tank one.
As for heavy armour, yep, they are just another form of currency in this game.

Uh, you're a noob. Lantry and/or Sirin with heavy armour are some of the strongest companions in the game. Sirin with heavy armour is a better tank than Barik.

I'd rather have 6 really detailed characters with rich backstories than 20 cardboard cutouts.

That said - I hope the upcoming expansion adds 1 more companion - prefereably one that can handle heavy armor.

Man, you guys need to read more about the game. You're working off invalid assumptions, and it reads like Noobie's First Game in this thread.

Sirin is arguably only good in heavy armour because she needs to be in the thick of things to be effective.

Exactly. She's essentially an PoE chanter in this game. And like those, her songs aren't affected by armor weight.

Meanwhile Kills-In-Shadow can not only use Two Handed Weapons, but she can use them one handed. Her right tree is meant for two handers. She used to have a bug in her AI so she only worked properly with them. (Fixed now) Nothing really stopping Barik from going two handed either if you wanted. Or anyone else for that matter.

The game is surprisingly open to non obvious gear usage for all your companions. The only real things you can't change is the armor of Barik/Killsy and the Helmet of Sirin.

In my opinion there is exactly the right amount of companions for the game. Double the number you can have in your group at one time.
