the trams will have a red colour until you press the use key on them, then they'll turn green

hm, that's odd. that's definitely not supposed to happen

try restarting from an earlier save (before you kill the gargantua), see if that fixes it.

did that, loaded a save when i was with the guard in the control room and the gargantaur was there, ran to kill him using the electricity button as usual, went back and the tram still wont work, spammed E to the prim and still... not working.. a bug possibly?

You knows there's more than one tram car right? I think only two of them actually work. Maybe try a different one?

You may be experiencing a bug with old saves. You may have to restart the chapter to resolve it. If not, you may have discovered a bad bug.

Have you tried pressing enter? For some weird reason the action key sometimes defaults to enter in any game even though it might say different in the options. Or failing that try changing the action button itself in options? Also make sure you are looking directly at the tram controls when pressing "action".

Hi old thread but new problem for me, here's the answer:

PRESS YOUR KEY (mine's E) TO 'USE' THE TRAM - THEN PRESS FORWARD.

You can then press your 'use' key again to disengage and move around on the tram

I had this ‘problem’ too until I remembered (as per the last post) that (using WASD) you press use (E) while looking at the controls (you’ll hear the power engaging) and then forward (W) to move...press W multiple times to speed up, and S to stop/reverse.

I hit this issue my self today. Its really confusing cause up until that point, when you would activate a button or lever, something would just happen. The devs should add something to make it obvious that you need to use w and d after activating lever on the kart.... I went back and forth several times trying to figure out if I had missed something because of this. The only fix was stumbling on this thread....

It's confusing only if you haven't played the original.
As it was like that there too and everyone either had to figure it out. XD

yes in all their reimagining they forgot to inform people unfamiliar with halflife (most of the people who played this) about this game mechanic

Please point me to a source citing 'most people who played this' never played the original.
