Question about tentacles.
From what i read in interview you said that you want to update surface tension as a whole not just by adding surface tension uncut , so is it mean that we will get those tentacles as an addition with surface tension uncut,cos we heard it from security guard in blast pit, that there can be another tentacles outside also it would have a nice reference to security guard dialogue.

surface tension might be the hardest chapter so far in Black Mesa. Helicopter, walking cliff, facing tank and BTR, killing tons of marines, mine field, sniper, super laser mine warehouse, GPS bombarding boss. I died 10+ times first time I play it. And now +tentacles? OK, expect 20+ death.

Surface tension is one of my favorite chapters next to lambda core and the first few chapters

Please update the Tentacle's programming so the mapper can decide how many "levels" it operates on! Right now, a Tentacle always assumes it's in the Blast Pit, so it bangs its head against invisible ledges at 3 different levels, even if there's nothing around it! :steamhappy:

I'd love to use the Tentacle in a future map, but it's just not plausible with the hardwired way it's currently set up.

It would be interesting if the Apache was there as well like in Half-Life. Something like where the Apache drops down in front of you, charging up its minigun, and then flies up and retreats instead as the tentacle comes out of the ground directly below the Apache to swipe at it.

I actually did make a post about this in the Leak-Free forum a couple months ago, but no one wound up replying to it. It is, admittedly, a very specialized problem and I'm sure it's not a huge blip on the radar. But, if you're doing STU, it's something that would invariably come up.

Yes,its much more interesting than my suggestion and much more impresive and can be combined with godrays effect.Or if you saw a half-life 2 trailer with hydra when she impaled combine soldier ,then smashed him to the ground and took him to her lair,it would be nice too.Just imagine as example a landscape with destroyed LAV and HECU bodies and hydra pierces the last HECU near from you.It remind me a blast pit scene with scientists.

That particular map of Surface Tension has been reworked in several aspects, but I think this is a bit out of scope (it's a lot more work than you might imagine). I'd love to do that, actually, but, probably won't. Not ruling it out, though.

Thx for response! I know its a hard to do it cos tentacles arenot a typical enemy like zombie or headcrab and need a lot of work to put it in.Im just loving a new mexico nature with those gorgeous sands,flowers,bushes,detailed cactuses,greenish water,godrays thats why i wanted an additional location with tentacles cos i can enjoy it more and not only me.Another reason why im loving surface tension and forget about freeman chapthers in black mesa cos it showing us a retail version advantages over a mod version(godrays),black mesa's source engine version over valve's source engine version and how superiour are source engine compared to goldsource with such huge locations which arenot possible to do in 1998 when half-life 1 was released.

+1 for Gimba's Tentacle thing.

I also love interacting with the Tentacle Npc on my maps :D

If chon doesn't put the tentacles, I'll just add them myself for local use.
