serious question, what does the HEV suit do?

oh it projects you from hazards? is that all? cause it doesnt do a very good job and idk i would think the scientist would think ahead, aware of aliens and the army so idk make it stronger? enemies in every game of Half Life mow down your health and just as useless shields in seconds. enemies i swear are stronger, hit faster and harder. meanwhile your guns are nerf and the slow reloading renders you a open target. its also said its full of tackers?WHY? the suit is cursed! why make a useless suit that does more harm than good? i mean the army camp on the canyon wall, waiting for you. now why would they be there? the lab is inside and everything happens inside and by that point you're miles away from the starting area. so they must be there cause you're on the radar but still omg its too much shooting, too many of the same over powered enemies

id say it dose do a good job, its meant to be used to protect you from Radiation Hazards, and xen people, which i almost never die to.

Why would they have thought that the army, which is meant to protect them, you know attack them? they would most likely have done fine against it, if the military didn't involve them self's in it.

Again. i never really found most Xen Enemies that hard to Fight. it makes sense that Marines, that shoot hot lead in to your Skull, would take away your health fast.

Well in short the HEV suit is the reason you behave like in a video game and are not agonising on the ground at the first bullet taken/2m fall/ slash from a random monster/discharge from any energy source

You're missing the point, it's not powered combat armor, it's a Hazardous Environment Vehicle Suit (Yeah I know it's Hazardous EnVironment but that's a crime against good acronyms.) Sure it has onboard weapons diagnostics and such, but its primary purpose is not to be fighting the military, but doing science in places that want you very dead. It was never designed for tactical military encounters, why would they design it to fight the military, there was never supposed to be any combat with other people, they wouldn't know the military was gonna be sent to clean up an incident that they also couldn't have known about. It has trackers so that if you send someone into a Hazardous Environment, you can keep track of them in case things go wrong. As a gameplay mechanic, it's just armour.
