Steam asking for Black Mesa installation (I already have it installed)
So I tried booting up Black Mesa just now, and Steam asked me if I wanted to install the game, even though I'd already installed it back in 2016. I never uninstalled it, and even checked my game files to make sure of it. According to Steam, the last time I played the game was in August 2019. Can someone provide some answers as to what's going on?

It's a bug where Steam doesn't recognize some installed games, just hit Install and it'll find the game files.

I advise reading the hardware requirements before you proceed. I had purchased the game and it ran fine. Then an update came out and no it will not load. After a lot of troubleshooting, and great help from the discussion section, I believe that the game requires more video power than my laptop has. So, it no longer works. And I can't go back to the pre-update version.

This is a completely unrelated problem.

Really? Please explain.

I had played the game 5-6 days before the update came out. The update happened and viola, nuttin' worked after that.

As explained in the first answer, it is a steam bug. I have had this happen with another game.

I had followed your suggestion. I have uninstalled 3x, reinstalled. Tried to use earlier (rollback) version. still nothing.

Hello, are you still having issues?

Yes I am. I keep looking for solutions I haven't tried. I have uninstalled all the Mods, tried many "load modifiers" - ( the ones added after HL.exe -xxx). I just can not seem to get it to work.

May need to add the download library in steam download settings.

I'm not sure what you mean. I have the game listed in my Library. Is there a setting I might not have set correctly?

This is not a Black Mesa issue, so we might not be able to help you if you still have issues with it after that support link.

I guess I am in a "loop". Steam says call the Black Mesa guys < - > Black Mes guys say call Steam. Uninstall, re-install, repeat.

HOWEVER, I am very thankful that you remembered my message. Thank you.
