It's also better than the game it is a remake of.

No contest, I thought the original half life was better than HL2 as well. HL2 is a great game but the Weapons, Enemies, story and environment are much better in HL1/BM in my opinion.

I'm sorry but Zombies and Combine as the majority of enemy encounters are NOT great for the game! Seriously M8 you will immediately notice that the majority of the enemy encounters are either Zombies or Combine, the Antlion encounters are more of set pieces rather than actual encounters.

You're preaching to the choir bud. HL2 has a dismal amount of enemy variety compared to HL1.

Both are good games. I like HL2 for its story-telling, the war torn city 17, the uprising, the layout and details of each combine outposts. the atmosphere, the sounds striders make when they die, the zombie ghost town, the sand puzzles and all.

Black mesa is a good remake of Half Life. One thing I found HL2 lacking is the weapon diversity in Half-Life. Less enemy variety is ok, but they could do more of the existing enemies instead of just combine soldiers all the way. Half Life have the same problem, less fight with some of the enemy types despite having more variety. It's mostly grunts, headcrabs and vortigaunts.

Except these fights are also with each other so instead of always having a two way fight of X vs the player some encounters have all of the factions in the same area resulting in three way fights which can make these encounters replayable as one faction coming out on top for one person's playthrough another comes out on top for another person's playthrough. That's why HL2's enemy variety is rather bland and boring because its a two way fight 80% of the game making the encounters bland and boring because they will always play out the same way with every single playthrough with nothing to make it replayable except because the person WANTS to replay it another way such as varies challenges like "9mm pistol only" "gravity gun only" etc.

Tough call. I don't think there is a better one. They are all equally great.

Last time I checked, Half life 2 had the better level design AND pacing. So fundamentally…

So this is your formal application to do every single voice line better...? also I can usually ignore typos when I can tell what the word is, but I literally cannot tell what "emboirrment" is supposed to be.
