Blast Pit Fan Bug

I'm at the big fan part of blast pit, and everytime I turn on the giant fan and jump in the wind tunnel it blows me up just below the vent you're supposed to go in. I've re-started a couple times through and it still keeps happening. I obviously can't keep playing until I can get in that vent which sucks. Anyone else having/had this problem??

Type sv_gravity 600 in the console. Yours is mistakenly set to sv_gravity 800.

Where exactly is console? I'm digging around in the files for the game and can't find where I should be changing that. Thanks!!

Enable developer console under advanced options in game, default bound to tilde

I enabled developer console under advanced options, but I still can't find console.

Press the "~" key and the developer console should appear!
The tilde key ~ is the first key in the numbers row.

So I had the game running fine last night and I went to open it today and it won't open and keeps saying, "Engine error. A Source engine game is required to run mods." But I haven't put any mods in it (besides changing the gravity) and I literally haven't done anything to it since I turned it off last night.

For the original problem of the fan, there are at least 3 or 4 openings you can reach with the fan: one or two above, two more below. You are likely just missing the upper vents, as you only get one shot to reach them, so just hover into either of the lower ones and they'll take you to the same place.

There are no goodies in the upper vents as far as I know so you aren't missing anything.

I've never had that before. I only remember the bug that crashes the game if you throw too many objects into the fan blades in the shareware mod.

Sorry about necroing this thread, but this is a thing that is still happening, even after later patches. If the developers can't get this resolved, can this thread be stickied so other people that have this issue can find the solution easily?

I was having the same problem. After working at it awhile, I figured out that you don't have to access the vent opening you're hovering just below. Glide over to the next one down. This time you'll be hovering just above it, but press and hold "Crouch" and you should (I did) glide right in. No need to go mucking about with the console. This is also probably why the "bug" hasn't been fixed.

Currently playing this for my first time, I've turned on the power already and I'm in the giant fan room. I press the button to turn on the fan, go up the ladder and try to jump in and I die immediately, falling into the fan.
If I try and go higher up the second ladder and jump in the same thing occurs. I have NO clue what to do about this. It's like the fan just doesn't give me the ability to use it to gravitate at all. Been stuck in this room on the same fan for nearly an hour, nothing I've tried works. Would LOVE some help on solving this.
