Feedback: Annoying shotgun design
Clicking once during reloading of the shotgun should stop the reloading only... it should not also fire a shot. This feels really bad because of the delay between clicking and firing, which means you are most likely not going to shoot where you want to.

Either make it so one click stop reloading and you have to click again to fire, or make it so that stopping reloading and firing happens immediately.

This game is almost flawless but this design choice just feels super annoying. I don't know of any shotgun in any game that plays like this. It's just bad.

Also sometimes when reloading you'll reload more shells than you fired. It does need some work

good idea

It actually behaves realistically for what it is: a semi-auto set to pump, that he insists on racking constantly. The added wait time and 'must actually fire when you cancel the reload' between shots feels like it's there to curb how incredibly powerful the gun is, but after their reply to the magnum and shotgun placement, I'm not so sure anymore. Probably another happy coincidence.

When you go from a full 8 to 0, the last shell isn't ejected until he racks, so he'll be ejecting 7 total, then the final 8th when he's done loading the gun up fully.

it behaves realistically
especially that part where a semi auto shotgun with one barrel can be fired double barrel and pumping it once somehow puts "both shells" back into the "second barrel"
it's a game, something feels bad and it should be fixed. Bad design is bad design even if it's realistic.

I rationalised it as the weapon is fitted with a two-shot burst at a high rate of fire.
Like all FPS shotties it's the weapon of choice :D

Agreed, I wasted way too many shells because of this.

I know this is old, but in 2023, I still hate the Black Mesa shotgun.
The shotgun was my go-to weapon in Half-Life 2.
But in this game I just avoid it completely,
unless to fire off an individual double-shot,
before switching away from it for the rest of the fight.
It's the clunkiest shotgun I've ever used in a game.
