Disable sound for menu?
Is there a way to disable the really annoying sound effects every time you move the mouse over something or you click something?

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I wish. It's terrible. The issue is that when you scroll past multiple options, the sound effect just stacks and creates this incredibly loud and terrible distortion effect that just sounds awful. Might try a mod to change the menu completely, since the whole thing is pretty bad in general

I agree it is just horrible like a broken record. Here is a fix for those who can't stand it.

1) Create these subfolders under bms folder in the Black Mesa install directory:
bms/custom/silent/sound/common

2) Download a wav file from here:
https://bigsoundbank.com/detail-0917-one-minute-of-silence.html
rename it to launch_glow1.wav and put it into the common folder.

You should now have silence when moving the mouse over the items in the menu.
And the developers, please, try to fix it, so no workarounds are needed.

What is anyone doing in the menu long enough for this to be a problem?

this didn't work for me! the worst part is the horrible 1991 microwave beep every time i click something. i have a slight headache just from starting up this game and trying to use the menu.

It worked, don't forget to double check every new subfolders and rename the wav file to launch_glow1.wav !

By the way, I'd love to mute the left click sound when validating menu option too !
