Sisyphe's Backspace is a short, minimalist narrative game about love and hesitation, using only "Backspace" to play. The story is experienced from Sisyphe's perspective as she attempts to confess her love for a female (presumably heterosexual) friend, but struggles to find the "right words" to convey her feelings. Will she find the courage to say "I love you," or will she become paralyzed by her fear of unrequited love?

While the premise of Sisyphe's Backspace is interesting and relatable, the immersion of the experience is somewhat dampened by seemingly unintentional typos — an unfortunate an inexcusable mistake considering the length and minimalism of the game. Further degrading the experience is the absence of any sort of emotional investment to either Sisyphe (or "Phe," for short) or her crush, which could have been established by a deeper backstory than simply "we're friends." Lastly, the experience feels unrewarding and story unresolved as you don't get a response from your crush after finally gathering the courage to send "I love you" to her... perhaps you were left on read.

I think I've aged out of the target audience for this sort of game. However, the mechanic was super creative even though I wasn't very interested in the relationship. Not everything is for me and this is one of those instances. I still think the experience is worthwhile.
