yes especially because i found zinc in the first cave entrence 50m next to my base and when mining it i also found alumium and glass
and found also graphite when wandering for clay
all proved useless before ceramic excepted for meaningless consumables

I also have the impression that clay is somewhat rare in the game. But the main issue seems to be that it is easy to miss because it is often hard to distinguish from its surroundings. On Sylva's surface, it is easily mistaken as a rock formation, some plants, or part of the earthy ground. It seems to be more prevalent on Calidor's surface, but there its color is also quite similar to the surface color.

Therefore, you really need to keep your eyes open in order to not miss any clay deposits you come across.

for me the rock are not a trouble since they use the same color than the ground

you literally can use Soil Canisters to Fill a Soil Centrifuge and produces clay along with a bunch of other stuff

yes i knowww but its not as fun as finding it in the world, as compared to using the centrifuge or the exo trading platform which both feel cheaty
tripodalt Nov 29, 2023 @ 11:03pm
AT FIRST I THINKED IT NEEDED 8 CANISTER FOR A SINGLE RESIN OR CLAY
it had encouraged mining even the centrifugation time is shortest than i tought
from what i see some ore are only in biom
i found cooper as soon i dug in montain

Not only is clay rare and scarce, but like there are those train terminals all over glacio's caves. Just TONs of them.

I'm grinning at this whole thread and not because I think the OP and others with their issues finding *insert material here* are bad at this game when they start out. There always seems to be one material that is just doing everything it can to elude you. I had a new game where ammonium was impossible to find on the starting planet (before custom games). The part that makes me actually grin about this is that once you find the first patch, you find it EVERYWHERE after that.

Clay is not rare, but just like other materials, it can be rare in your area. It's ALL over Desolo and Calidor.

what surprised me is my starting base just over the top of helm deep caves and their is plenty of resin and composite all around meunder me i found what look like than infinite glass and zinc and aluminium
after that it took me 15h for founding a single limited patch of ammonium graphite clay cooper
i thinked their was in diferent biome like montain canyon but after leveling to ground the montain i still have 8 cooper
and the clay and graphite was at the other side of the planet and obivously i note used the balises
not sure if the amomium is just a limited patch because i not spended time in forest but i not seen other surfacing

I'm using it all on my latest strategy (I always wind up having to restart due to a major update dropping, so haven't finished this thing yet) of making landing pads and flying them to all the planets by leaving the oxygen slot empty on the shuttle, easy peezy with hydrazine unlocked.
