25 dead tortoise... zero tortoise meat

Being that these critters are fairly rare enough as it is, why in blessed heaven is it impossible for them to be made out of tortoise meat?

They seem to only be made out of shells and gallbladders...

So for future reference... there seem to be 3 tortoise on that map, only 1, for some odd reason, gives out tortoise meat.

If you run north immediatly, it seems to be that one, but if you don't catch him he will run all over the map and you will end up killing the other two and get no meat.

The early mission where you need to find Roscoe/Clifton(?) and the Saw (locked in the dresser) has a NON-infected turtle that always drops meat.

There are living tortoises and zombie ones, only the living ones will give meat.

You can also find tortoises in the main map down at the lower portion of the map in the pit area.

I thought of that as well, but they all seem to look exactly alike; the one in "The Exile" that always drops meat, looks exactly like the other two that do not.

Yea, I did that, killed 25 of them, none of them dropped any meat. The ONLY ONE that did, was that 1 out of the three, in that mission, The Exile.
Which is why I posted here.

I also had already tried killing 14 other ones in different missions, none of them dropped any meat. To me, it appears as though only a single tortoise found in 'The Exile" actually drops any meat.

There is no reason to kill the living ones, I managed to only kill the ones that were agressive and infected. Most of mine drop something, often shells and gallbladders and a couple droped meat.


You were very unlucky, try using items that increase looting ability and have a positive attitude that you will have more luck than people who believe in statistics, odds, and averages. A little faith and self confidence goes a long way when trying to beat the odds stacked against you.

Or I can simply go and kill the 1 turtle in The Exile that always drops meat. Which I did.

Same here, during my last playthrough I found only one tortoise dropping meat - not that I cared, but it does seem unbalanced.
