That being said, it's not, like, some super amazing weapon. Why would it be? You get it by default. Would be a bit of an upset to the effort:reward ratio if something you got for free was just super mega better than stuff you get by fighting or crafting, wouldn't it?
Waterstrike + sensor is decent for several areas. Piercing is nice for armored enemies. You just have to choose how you personally play. If you use magic or piercing with another character already then having it on Tidus is redundant and not as good as using Brotherhood. If you don't then getting a weapon with piercing offers more benefits.
But in general 4slot weapons are more on the rare side for the main story and the abilities on brotherhood work just fine.
