Anti-Drain can't actually be learned from enemies during a game, and it appears only on one free player, Durren - that player however can no longer be recruited past a certain point in the story (confronting Sin for the first time with the airship) and can be lost forever. Even if you do recruit him, he doesn't actually HAVE the tech - so you need to recruit him, release him, have an enemy team pick him up, and hope RNG lines up so that he eventually learns Anti-Drain. And then you recruit him back. This is why Tidus and Wakka (the other two players who can have the tech) can't be used to learn it, because they can never be recruited by enemy teams.
Hi-Risk is a rare 2nd-place prize in Leagues, and may take many resets to appear.
Can you activate and get most of the Abilities?
Or are there Exceptions like "Anti-Drain", Jekkt-Shot", ...
There isn't really an opportunity cost to having techs if you happen to get them, but if you just want to beat BB for the relevant prizes, you can just ignore them completely.
but I have been surprised that Tidus is not the best Player
Tidus doesn't have the best stats, but stats mean nothing if you have Jecht Shot. It's the most absurdly OP tech in the entire game.
And in terms of overall just-want-to-win efficiency, the best player is unquestioningly Brother.
But he is sold - so I need him to equip these techniques.
- this was also my first idea: to let Players get "Hard to get Abilities" in other Teams
- like "Anti-Drain", "Hi-Risk", ...
- without having to loose games
- Durren is also hired by another Team already
"Durren begins play with Nap Pass 3 which is also introduced into the game by Mep and Wedge. Thus he contributes no unique skills that do not otherwise become available from other Blitzball players. In particular, Anti-Drain is introduced by Biggs, Giera Guado, Miyu, Ropp and Zamzi Ronso (not Durren).
Anti-Drain, very optimistically, can be described as extremely hard to learn via Techcopy. There have been a few reports that Anti-Drain has been learned via Techcopy but, after many many hours of investigation using various approaches, I say as a practical matter, it apparently is just plain impossible.
As the only "Techcopyable" skill that seems unavailable through Techcopy, it has been a topic of much interest to those interested in Blitzball - thus the multiple discussion threads.
Players other than Wakka and Tidus can learn Anti-Drain while playing with Blitzball teams other than the Besaid Aurochs. To have them learn, release them for hire by another team and then rehire them after they have learned that skill. Tidus and Wakka are "out of luck" in that regard as they only play for the Aurochs."
You can finish everything in the Game - then hire Durren.
There is not much to do "after Sin".
and release him to get Tidus and Wakka the Ability on a legal way.
But there is no Proof - as most Players seem to de-equip "Anti-Drain".
