Is the Blitz Ball mini game annoying?
I played a number of all the old FF's but never played this one so I though I would try it out. Got through the blitz ball tutorial and it just looks boring and annoying. Now I am not sure I want to play it anymore.

Some people enjoy blitzball, I personnally found it boring as hell.
Anyway there is a match you can't skip, then you can play while skipping blitzball through end of the game.
There is Wakka who just sounds dull but will be very ineresting late game for the plot.
Just put aside blitzball and there is a very great game with very nice plot and nice gameplay. Just go play it

It's okay not to like things.

There's only one BB match that you have to play, as part of the story. After that, it's entirely optional.

BB also improves vastly once you get to recruit your own players and assemble your own team - remember, the base team is canonically THE WORST TEAM EVER ;) So it's no wonder they all suck. But you get to discover new players as the game goes on, and can create a kickass team if you like.

That being said, if you really just don't like Blitzball, just don't play it. Enjoy the rest of the game and simply never go back to BB at all!

Thanks for the info. It is good to know I could ignore it eventually if I want to.

There is one caveat to it being optional:
In the post game, IF you want to get Wakkas strongest weapon/attack you need to play a few games.

Aside from that as others said it is more enjoyable once you actually have a choice. I did spent a couple hours in it but it just is not entirely my thing with how the tech-learning works.

Oh, I hate it. I've never liked it, in paper Blitzball is good, but as a minigame that I'm forced to play every playthrough? Oh, how I despise it.
It’s a more realistic Mighty Ducks. Instead of inspiring a team of losers, you are basically ditching them for talented replacements.

Even worse, in the one story-forced game where you're supposed to inspire them, the best way to win is to just go in and do it all yourself xD

No messing around with pro sports, eh.

If you don't like it then you can skip it. As been said you'll probably need to win 1 match for achievement and then play lot more for Wakka's weapon. Good thing that you can just reset and hire strong players for easy wins.
Blitzball can be fun but also time consuming (if you don't play x2/4 speed)
I always loved it. Countless hours in PS2.
I've grown to love it. When I first played on back on the PS2. (lol) I hated it. At that time in my life I was, occupied. DIdn't have a lot of free time and had to burn through the game on a time limit so I skipped it.

Fast forward to now, I love it. It's frustrating, it sucks at first until you figure out how mark mode and leveling up works. That forced match it throws you in, wow. To this day I just try to score, then set it to right side mode and go swim behind my goalie in the hopes it glitches out and everyone swims in circles for the easy win.

I just wish I could change my team name to the Sleepy Aurachs. Nap Passes and tackles GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Felt the exact same way but now i love it. Give it another chance in the near future.

When I was a dumb kid I loved Blitzball and I had a sense of nostalgia for years but having just replayed FFX I can very easily say it's utter garbage.

The AI is beyond description of how bad it is. The UI is also bad and stuff like techcopy on volley shot remains about as likely as winning the lottery.

And they are not even the worst players at higher levles. And Keepa is ... just why?
I find either people love or hate it. I love it, but only in small doses.

If you're looking to get everyone's best weapon, you'll need to play some games. There are guides out there though that recommend how to do it as quickly as possible, through resetting leagues/recruiting specific members.

It's required to get Wakka's overdrive and best weapon. Aside from those, you can get some really strong items early on, but in a causal run they're not worth going for.

I love Blitzball personally. Early game you can get some good prizes, especially Wakka's stuff and if you can get multiple players to be the goal leaders. Late game it's a good distraction from farming the monster arena. And also, F-You Nimrook
