Game Quits on Sphere Save

Hello. I'm wondering. It's been years. Why hasn't there been a fix for the consistant constant game quitting when you hit the save spheres? I'm at the callm lands now and I'm pretty pissed because I ran around the very large area for like thirty minutes and soon as I got to a save sphere, the game quits on me.

Why hasn't there been a fix for this issue? I feel like its Steam's responsibility or whoever's responsible for the downloads to fix it by now.. Seems like an easy fix. I don't know? Just annoyed, cause you know, I worked so hard at my group's levels to get it all lost cause the game quits on me when I hit that save sphere in the center of Calm Lands...

Crashes on saving are usually related to permission problems with the savegame directory. Check that you have writing privileges for that folder.

Alternatively, it could be related to Steam messing up some of the files. Verify game file integrity in the Steam client and it'll check if something is faulty.

From the FFX/X-2 screen in Steam I went to Manage -> Properties, under the General tab I turned off "Steam Cloud" feature for saving games. It stopped crashing and trying to save to the cloud at save spheres and now just saves locally to my ssd.

Not sure if you ever figured it out but I ran into this today after not touching the game for years. The culprit for me was windows defender (standard in w10) the real time protection etc. Turn that off when you play and you should be fine.

game just crashes for me all the time ive been watching the same cut scene for more than an hour and cant progress the story everytime i enter the cafe looking for auron

If you're persistently crashing in the same location, run a file integrity check on Steam. It's possible Steam screwed up somewhere and you're missing a file/have a corrupted file, so when the game tries to load it, it crashes.

If you're running on a weaker system you can also try lowering graphics temporarily and see if you can get past the problematic spot; then you can turn the graphics up again. Sometimes there are spots that for some reason require more power.

I think DubbelDutch may be onto something; some antirviruses flag parts of the game as false positives. Don't know why.

That's also a common issue, to be sure. Especially modded games/mods.

Also windows defender in w10 has the tendency to turn itself back on without your permission. It's something you can't undo without a lot of annoying digging in windows itself. So before you save just make sure it's turned off. It happened to me that I'd been playing for hours and it had turned itself back on again.
