There's some things that they should have done better like splitting text/audio languages and so on, but there's community fixes/improvements that can help with a lot of the rough edges.
It's not their best port, but it's not terrible or even just bad like the FFVIII one, say. It's... fine.
Steam Deck is a bit of a mixed bag it seems. Don't have personal experience with it, but like many older games you may run into issues here and there trying to get it to run on Steam Deck. It doesn't seem to be impossible, though. Just may run into problems.
Thanks for the reply! Which are some of the better FF ports you'd recommend? They've got the sale on and im looking to purchase so long as the port is half way decent. Thank you again.
It has several feature updates, it has 60fps support out of the box, you can set audio and text languages separately, choose the music between various options, and so far it's been crash-free for me in over 1,000 hours of gameplay.
It's the best FF port they've done that I know of.
I'll have to consider picking that one up too. Thank you again mate!
For steamdeck - X should work fine, but many people have trouble with X-2 - most often the suggestions seem to revolve around using specific proton-versions.
FFXII has missing VFX for abilities but It's nothing you really notice too much while playing, good port.
