Xbox controller not working

My controller has worked in the past, I think like 6 months to a year ago before I uninstalled this game. I reinstalled it and came back and it's not working anymore. I have tried messing with the input settings and seeing if there's anything in the device manager interfering with it but there's nothing. My controller works in the Steam overlay and in other games. This is the only place where it doesn't. Has anyone else had this problem?

Edit: I went into device manager, clicked on "Human Interface Devices" and found that there were apparently multiple controllers that the system thought were connected but weren't, and they were interfering with the game's input. So basically, under the "Human Interface Devices" I clicked on "HID compliant game controller" and disabled it, and now my controller works.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I have been trying for months to get my DS4 controller to work with the game and it kept wigging out and I couldn't figure out why. Was just about to uninstall for good but saw your post. Mine had two HID Game Controllers, and after I disabled the one not associated with mine it's working in game perfectly now.
