Just about to finish each character's default sphere grid. Any tips?
Do you guys have particular strategies? I was going to just break into the adjacent areas using some level 3 key spheres and carry on from there. I do intend to fight the optional bosses later on though.

I just used Clear Sphere on all the grid and made it my way. (all max stats minus evasion (36) and accuracy (1XX lazy to clear them).

I don't remember the default grid but IMO the best thing to do is to switch to paths similar to the character's original path. (e.g. teach lulu -> white magic path, tidus -> auron's patch for damage, ...) boost rikku through wakka, tidus and auron's paths as the most useful stat to max first is strength anyway.

Yuna x Lulu.
Wakka x Tidus x Rikku x Auron.
Kimahri follows based on whose you decided to send him down early game.

After they are done with those sets, you are going deeper into stat maxing, so just follow what you think at that point?

I was wondering about this as well. I'm at the endgame doing sidequests at the moment (I played this game before, but I never got this far), and all my characters have pretty much reached the end of their paths. Tidus has like 31 sphere levels at the moment because I can't decide what to do next (I was spamming his Overdrives to get Blitz Ace, so he's very far ahead compared to everyone else). According to general consensus, I should take him down Auron's path next, which makes sense. But by that you mean using a teleportation sphere to drop him at the very beginning of Auron's path and continue from there?

Any means of getting him into Auron's grid works. Moving him to a lock that leads into Auron's, using some form of teleport/warp... whatever you think is the best way to reach it.

Yuna and Lulu still have 2 good choices after they have finished each others area though, namely Rikku for the high amount of Agility as well as a surprisingly high amount of HP and Wakka for relatively mid-tier Magic and MP Stats.

You can send Tidus, Wakka and Auron all on each others paths imo. I put Rikku on Auron first then Wakka and now Tidus. And now that Tidus/Wakka have done each others trees plus Aurons, im putting them down Rikkus tree. It may remove their effective "class" but the only thing that matters at end game is Overdrives.

Here's a trick for swapping to hard to reach places. Use a Special, Skill, Black Magic (etc) Sphere to activate Aurons Power Break (for example). Then Return Sphere instead of Teleport Sphere.

Whats the best way to farm teleport/return speheres? I only have about 2/3 of each right now.

Yeah, Sleep Sprout is the best way to get around the Sphere grid if you can beat him.

There's no easier way to get great supplies of Spheres that allow you to move around the Sphere Board without wasting Sphere levels, so use the Don Tombery/Dark Ixion farm method (look them up if you don't know them yet) to boost the Exp until you can oneshot Sleep Sprout.

Or, if you don't plan to do the optional content but instead just want to get through the story just use the supplies that you have and otherwise move into adjacent territory. It's not too much of a problem to end up in sub-optimal areas for the story alone, getting the HP-Pool to a somewhat reasonable amount is really the one critical thing, and you get that basic amount of HP anywhere. (And you can still change your decision later on, if you go through the Optimal content your Characters need to unlock the whole Sphere Board anyway).

Your best bet is using the Monster Arena. If you're not at end game yet then wait for the Airship.
