Story wise... I dunno. It's nice to see the aftermath of the 'save the world' quest (aka FFX) where people try to adjust to the new living conditions and cope with the changes. If that's not your cup of tea, then I'd still suggest you stay for the gameplay, but that's up to you.
As to your question, though, that's going to be really hard to answer. You're games list is pretty short so we can't compare it to games you've played a lot. The only hint we've got is that you actually know who the Charlie's Angels are. ;) So it's kinda like coming in and asking us if you'll like BBQ'ed shrimp or not. All people can do is tell you if they liked it or not.
Yuna's dancing? Do you mean the concert at the start? or the dress sphere malfunctioning? One is not Yuna.... the other is the dress sphere malfunctioning Both of which are explained in the first ten minutes of the game.
Paine's presence is explained and is quite closely tied into the game's plot.
Now let's wait for the inveitable post from Cat Daddy with his list of things innaccurate description of the things from the game or things which are not even present in the game.
I meant the whole "dancing" thing, i checked dress sphere's and seems like it's part of the game(class for buffs/debuffs i guess?). Some battles might look like korean music videos -.-' Not that i have something aggainst those, but this doesn't feeled like a part of FF universe at all.
Anyway thanks guys for clearing some things up.
The game does have a story which you admitted to before.
The only one which would somewhat match that description would be the songstress dress sphere but certainly not to the extent that gets suggested regarding it.
Sure if you like it's not as if you're even providing any description there.
In X while shes is the closest to the comic relief character but even then is serious during the majority of the game. X2 however exaggerates this quite a lot.
Farrah Fawcett - Rikku
Jaclyn Smith - Paine
David Doyle - Brother

I guess it's safe to not take your opinion seriously since you didn't play the game lol
I love FFX-2 and not for its fanservice, or the occasionally cringeworthy sidequest, but for the fact that it adds both depth to the FFX world through taking up story hints seeded in the first game, and that it tries hard to actually show progress in a world which for the first time in a millenium no longer has an ancient evil hanging over it.
Yes it's light hearted.....to start with, but right around the middle of chapter 2 it's already on its way to being darker, and by the end of the game I'd argue that it's bleaker in many ways than FFX was, because in the first game the evil was external, by en large. Sin was the big evil that everyone was focussed on. In the second game the evil is much more personal, it's the dark evils of people, some of whom have good intentions and some who do not, that drives much of the plot.
Paine's plot specifically with regards to the Den of Woe and the Crimson Squad is utterly heartbreaking if you follow it through.
Is there fanservice? Sure there is. But there's also real narrative progress, there's good explanations for WHY Yuna has flipped her personality (getting out from under a death sentence would improve anyone's mood) and there is a surprisingly complex and mature story if you can dig through the trop layer of dirt.
Despite the fact that a lot of people are turned off by the opening sequence, I'd suggest playing it through to the end. If you enjoyed the first game, I think you'll like the second.
