please tell me the chocobo race isnt worth it

been trying to get 0 and done it like 20 times now without success reaching 0.

It is an exercise in frustration, since it's random. Best thing to do is stop playing (or do something else in-game) for a while if you get too frustrated, and try again later. Good luck.

I just did it!!!!

this time I got all 6 ballons at start, and managed to dodge all birds by staying away from most ballons and landed on 13.

jesus christ was that race random.

the race is far easier to do than playing dodge ball with 200 lighting with hd ghapics. I cant even dodge one lighting bolt cause of the lagg the hd ghapics/monitor is causing. I could dodge them super easy back when the game out but now I cant.

What about the butterflies? Do the HD make them easier to pick and dodge?

can I be a ass and brag how I did both race and butterfly runs succesfully on my first try =X. To be fair, i spent hours on them on PS2 and PS3.

Lightning dodges on the other hand.... no amount of experience can improve my patience for something so brainless

Normally I can do the race within a few tries, and the lightning dodging isn't too bad either, just a bit mindnumbing (in fact clearing your mind and just reacting to the flashes is one of the better ways to make the time pass quicker, but there is a macro out there for the PC version now I think).

There is some RNG involved with the race because sometimes you will spawn in a location that allows you to get the first few balloons and sometimes you have to give them to the AI opponent in order to get the others.

Basically you want to turn as little as possible in the starting straight, because if you try to turn to get the balloons you will slow down and fall behind, and they will then get most of the balloons until they hit a bird.

I've heard about that lag claim before, I don't seem to suffer from that though, well I can easly dodge them but I just can't deal with the boredom that "minigame" causes. If it was 50 lightning dodges, then that would be okay for me, but come on, 200 is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ piece of ♥♥♥♥, for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake what were they thinking?!
