auto-protect vs auto-med

I'm building my end-game 'perfect armor', and after haste, Phoenix, and HP limit break, I can't decide between these two.

I know when I was reading FAQs for this game way back in the day everyone always included auto protect as the fourth spec, but why not auto med? Seems to me that with already having a boatload of health and auto Phoenix, being able to cure yourself automatically of annoying things like blind or silence would be more useful than a little extra damage protection.

It depends on whether the boss you're facing is more likely to kill you via massive damage or status side effects. There isn't a perfect armor in any objective sense.

Although if there was, you'd probably want to use Ribbon instead of Auto-Med.

This version has Ribbon in it. Auto-med is completely outclassed (considering you are going for 'perfect' armor)

I'd advise Ribbon over auto-protect as well.
