Failed to Download for 24 hours
I bought this game on the 14th and i have still yet to be able to play it at all.

I keep getting "disk write failure" and the logs say "Failed to write chunk". I've tried nearly every solution to this that i've seen. I've made sure that my drives arent failing, I moved the download to a different place, I reinstalled steam and tried a few other things that havent had any impact at all.

Has anyone else run into this? Any advice would be appreciated.

Also I have 441 GB free.

The game downloaded 6gb last night before a random disk write failure when i woke up it refused to download at all with a disk write error every time and now 4 hours later its downloading again, but i'm afraid it will have another error while I'm at class.

you are the first with this issue... O.o

I've noticed quite a number of Steamers are having difficulty installing the game, so I'm beginning to suspect it's not user error. Something just keeps going wrong whenever the download tries to unpack. If you can't figure it out, grab a refund and wait for Square to kick some early patches out the door.

Good point. Just keep in mind that your refund is good for 14 days if you want to wait and see what happens. After that, you'll be stuck with whatever you get.

When I came home, the download was completed but clicking on any of the 4 game choices gave me a message about corrupted files. I immediately went to verify the files and now its downloading 33.5 gb worth of files...

This sounds pretty much like your Hard drive is failing. Write failures, corrupted files. Sure sounds like it. You need to run a test on your HD before you continue to download the game as its just going to happen again if that is the case. Start by checking for errors on your HD.

Its not any of these things that people are saying and especially your hard drive...Its not failing. Dont go out n buy a new one. If you go to your game install directory I bet you can run the game from there but its 6gb BIGGER that its supposed to be. Steam is thinking its not finished when it is and tries to redownload it all over again. My folder is now 40GB. I cant get it off of the download page but I can play it fine from the folder. I dont know how to fix it but its NOT your harddrive. Pause the DL until there;s a fix.

I tested for errors already, that was one of the first solutions presented on the steam support for this issue and nothing came up.

Seriously..A disk write failure is not a hard drive problem.

Seems a pretty random question, but what about your data format? As you already pointed out that your HDD/RAM aren't the damaged ones

Yes seriously. There are other threads of the same issue. Did you launch the game from the install folder? I bet its all there plus more. I put mine on my ssd with 40gb space left. When i woke up it seemed like it didnt DL at all so I let it go again. Then I got the disk error at 6gb. So I then checked the install folder and its all there and runs but is now 40GB. Its still in the downloading queue and cant be started from Steam however.
