That first Blitzball match is hell.

I know it's not a requirement to beat the Luca Goers, but those monsters TAUNTED me and the strength sphere is too good to pass up. My first attempt, I kept the score 0-0 until half time fairly easily, but took too long to get to the goal with Tidus in the second half and the cutscene cut in JUST as I was shooting with Jecht shot.

Now, every time I restart the match, the Goers get the ball first. One guy passes to another, they shoot at the goal repeatedly, and they inevitably score, so I reset. This has happened 5 times in a row now and it feels like there is NOTHING I can do since the AI is so terrible and I can't control where anyone goes while on the defensive, especially not in the first half.

I'm just really sick of watching them score, but I'm too stubborn to just give up the win.

This blitzball match is a joke if you're used to Blitzball, just pass it to Tidus who just learned Jecht Shot.

Easiest? Stats-wise this is definitely the hardest match to win in the whole game (Unless you purposely make later matches harder for yourself, which would be dumb). You can always cheese it with one of the multiple different glitches and get it over with very easily, but if you try to win it legit without any glitches or taking advantage of the bad AI, good luck. You're probably never going to beat it. The enemy team can easily get through a 4-man encounter and still shoot a goal while your team players can barely handle one.

In the later matches you'll always have advantage stat-wise and can just run through the map and shoot a guaranteed goal with jecht shot.

Its easy , you just need to break correctly and pass to Tidus then break again and goal . I scored 3 goals in first half and one in second half with a Jecht shot.

Get the Jecht shot from the boat beforehand, at half time you'll probably be 1-0 down, at half time, give Tidus the Jecht shot, you should be able to get him to score before he's subbed off for Wakka. Then if you can't score with Wakka before full time it will go to Overtime, again shoot as much as poss with wakka using his Venom Shot, game won!

I dunno how i did it but i managed to go 7-3 once when i was playin on my ps2 a couple of months ago.

To be able to recruit wakka you must do the first one (wich happens after defeatinga specific undead summoner which Yuna was named after

Ok, let me clarify this. *SPOILERS* if you are able to get into the airship and are able to choose your own destinations with all the guardians present inside of the airship (this happens way later in the story) , you can simply walk up to wakka and press the button that lets you draft blitzball players and recruit him.

I also gave up with this 1st match. Tbh I even fail to get Jecht Shot
I was playing this game 10 years ago or something like that, I don't remember anything.
I didn't even finish FF IX yet and I'm playing X

just pass to Tidus and have him break the 1 defender and its easy, second half if you botch the Jecht shot dont worry since Wakka can score easily.

Also change from Auto to manual or you will have no control over ur team.

Didn't find it too hard tbh. If you stand still in your own half the other team should just run in circles and not even try to defend. Run down the clock till 30secs or so are left and then just pass to tidus and shoot. Same deal with the second half.

If you do that the crowd boo's you, I had a really intense game going I got my first goal with Tidus with jecht shot, then they scored a goal then i got datto to score a goal and that made the crowd go wild, then everybody started chatting for wakka, i get him out, the goers get their goal, we go into half time, I pass the ball to wakka, he goes up breaks to one of their defenses and venom shot. got a few screen shots of the crystal cup, and a few more on people who where in disbelief, which reminded me of the forums... actually a lot of text in these two games are similar to ones you'll read on these forums.

I find the key is the play it back alot, passing regularly, which forces the enemy team to leave their goal largely exposed.
Then you get a long pass to Tidus who proceeds to get a clear and close Jecht shot on their goal which should have no more than two defenders who get removed by the Jecht shot leaveing only the keeper who cannot block the strength of the shot.
