This trick can work after getting an early point, then you just turtle until the match ends (will have to do it once more after half-time). It also works well to have another teammate there holding off for Tidus to get more AP for a Jecht Shot attempt.
Once you learn how to do that, it's just scoring once, and hiding.
Again, super cheesey, but it works.
This is why you don't just rely on autosaves. I messed it up the first time, and reloaded my save from right before the match starts.
I consider it a point of pride to always win this match when playing FFX.
Ah, I had a save from right before the match: I used it a few times, it just got a little grating watching the same unskippable scenes over and over before the match started!
I only have Tidus and Jassu left in my team from the original. I signed the rest before I got to Mi'hen road?
