Definitive guide on how to use FFXED save editor on FFX HD for PC (Simpler way)
THIS POST IS OBSOLETE, THE CURRENT FFXED SUPPORTS PC SAVES NATIVELY.
If you want to know what you can do with FFXED and how, look at my guide here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=685356413

------------------------------------------------------------------

OUTDATED METHOD: From now on this doesn't work anymore, please, refer to the guide linked above.

You need:
-FFXED[www.sendspace.com] (Obviously)
-HxD[mh-nexus.de]
-MemorySumChecker[t.co]

I did this because I came up with this myself, and after that I saw some guides really obtuse that added a lot of innecesary steps like bruteforceSaveData an PSU templates, they converted the save file intpo PS3 fotmat and then they had to convert it back. You don't need that with my method, because the save file forma is almost identical to the original PS2 Raw data format.

1.- Open your save with HxD
2.- We'll now use HxD to shorten the file to remove a portion FFXED does not recognise. Delete everything from the adress 0x64F8 to the end (64F8 means the 000064F0 row, the 8th column, with that value included). Dont worry, this is junk code, it serves no purpose and the FFXHD game can open games without this code.
3.- Open the file with FFXED, edit whatever you want and save (The previous step was to make sure FFXED could open the file, because it doesn't recognise the PC save files directly)
4.- Use the memorysumchecker on the edited file:
4a: Open MemorySumChecker
4b: Press ctrl+O and select your edited file
4c: Make sure in the left area of the program is selected the one where "X HD" is written
4d: Press the play button
5.- Your save file is succesfully edited and ready to play!

NOTES: You need to install JAVA in your PC to run FFXED.jar

Hi guys, I am wondering, does it work to convert FFX PS2 save files into FFX Remastered PC save file ? ^^
I have a great game on PlayStation 2 and I would like to play again without starting from nothing again ^^
Thank you !

I don't believe this is possible.

Yes it is. In fact the save format is mostly the same, just that the PS2 game didn't use sumcheck. There's a good chance that the PS2 save can be used right away. So this is what I would do:
Paste the PS2 save into the saves folder (C:\Users\<your user>\Documents\SQUARE ENIX\FINAL FANTASY X&X-2 HD Remaster\FINAL FANTASY X) and rename it using the format ffx_XXX where XXX is a number. Notice that the file mustn't have any extension. It must NOT be ffx_XXX.psu or something, it must be ffx_XXX.
Try to load it. if the game says it's corrupt, use MemorySumChecker on the file and try again.

In fact that's how I came up with how to use FFXED, because I opened an old FFX PS2 savefile I had laying around with HxD and compared it to a save from the PC remaster, and noticed that they were mostly the same, the only difference were those extra bytes at the end. So you could export your PS2 files to your PC and vice-versa (to do PC to PS2 you would have to delet the extra bytes)

Oh I think I have understood a lot ! I will try it soon and tell you if it worked or if I had any issue !

I already answered you in the main guide.

Could this theoretically work on the Nintendo Switch version of the game?

I don't know, that depends on the savefile structure that the console uses.

I can tell you my experience with this and consoles. PS3 and PS4, the console itself adds some stuff to the save, in some cases even encrypts them. That means that in order to use FFXED with PS3/4, you must use some kind of software to "Extract" the "normal" save, then edit it with FFXED, and then "re-import" it to the console format.

However the PC version doesn't change anything at all compared to the original PS2 game (well, it adds those 00 bytes at the end,but that's it).

If you share with me a FFX save file from Switch, I could give it a look and tell you, but coming from a console, it's probably not going to be this easy.

Players will be in your main game. And in your group. Bagoi will appear with hiring after the end of the contract in the main group:feste:

If I recall correctly, the "blitzball" data is always reset when you play for the first time in Luca, so there's no way to actually change your team earlier than the Luca Championship.

From then on, you're free to change whatever you want, but keep in mind that the opposition team's levels are autoleveled after each match, so it's not possible to have an overleveled team. You can set your dream team with any attacks you want them to have, though
