Definitive guide on how to use FFXED save editor on FFX HD for PC (Simpler way)
THIS POST IS OBSOLETE, THE CURRENT FFXED SUPPORTS PC SAVES NATIVELY.
If you want to know what you can do with FFXED and how, look at my guide here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=685356413

------------------------------------------------------------------

OUTDATED METHOD: From now on this doesn't work anymore, please, refer to the guide linked above.

You need:
-FFXED[www.sendspace.com] (Obviously)
-HxD[mh-nexus.de]
-MemorySumChecker[t.co]

I did this because I came up with this myself, and after that I saw some guides really obtuse that added a lot of innecesary steps like bruteforceSaveData an PSU templates, they converted the save file intpo PS3 fotmat and then they had to convert it back. You don't need that with my method, because the save file forma is almost identical to the original PS2 Raw data format.

1.- Open your save with HxD
2.- We'll now use HxD to shorten the file to remove a portion FFXED does not recognise. Delete everything from the adress 0x64F8 to the end (64F8 means the 000064F0 row, the 8th column, with that value included). Dont worry, this is junk code, it serves no purpose and the FFXHD game can open games without this code.
3.- Open the file with FFXED, edit whatever you want and save (The previous step was to make sure FFXED could open the file, because it doesn't recognise the PC save files directly)
4.- Use the memorysumchecker on the edited file:
4a: Open MemorySumChecker
4b: Press ctrl+O and select your edited file
4c: Make sure in the left area of the program is selected the one where "X HD" is written
4d: Press the play button
5.- Your save file is succesfully edited and ready to play!

NOTES: You need to install JAVA in your PC to run FFXED.jar

I don't know, if you give me a ps4 save file I'll give it a look and see if there is an easy way to convert it.

Can this be used with a PS4 save file?
It sure *seems* like the various remasters share all kinds of behavior so are probably from a common codebase. So you'd sure think it FFXED would work on the PS3 and/or PS4 versions. The only question is whether they enclosed the save data in some wrapper. Do you have one of those files? The first question is: how big is it, exactly?

I was curious, so I went ahead and followed the steps but when I opened it in FFXED everything was empty. So, either I'm a stupid (more than likely) or it won't work.

The thing is that of course this wont work step by step because of the ps4 save file format (a PC game can have it's own save format, but console save files are regulated by the console itself and MUST have some stuff in them so the console sees them as saves).

But FFXHD remasters share the original save structure, so even when a PC save WILL be different than a PS3/PS4 save, it's pretty likely that it has some part in the file that it's a copy paste from the original structure. So if you give me a PS3/PS4 save file (from FFXHD) I can take a look and see if I found said structures and find an EQUIVALENT (but not equal) method.

Okay, this is a zip of the folder I get when I copy the save to a USB:

I appreciate any help, whether it works or not, so thanks in advance!

Ok so I took a look, and I can't find any pattern there, I guess it's coded in there. There are some ways to use FFXED with PS4 saves, I just don't know how, but I'm sure that if you google "FFXED PS4" you will get it.

Yeah, there is, you have to have a PS3 copy of FFX HD and cloud transfer your save to that but I don't have a PS3 anymore.

Anyway, again thanks for the help! Mostly I just wanted to skip the chocobo race for the Sun Sigil. :P
Console saves are almost certainly encrypted, as they just about always are.

So, I downloaded FFXED and it did not come with the .jar file needed to open it, or that I can not see the file anywhere in the folder. Anyone else run into this problem?

That's hard to believe, since the only thing in the .zip file is a .jar file.

Shall I remember you that WinRAR opens .jar as a compressed file?

decompress the .zip file and then execute the .jar file (You MUST have JAVA installed)
For some reason my game freezes after loading my save after doing this. I'm using my PS3 save, if it changes anything.
Maybe you must convert your ps3 file to a PC file first. Idk how to do that, but you can google "ffxhd ps3 pc save convert". Once you have your save converted to PC, load it in your PC, and save again, and then try to edit the save.

This guide is how to use FFXED for PC save files.
I did. I decrypted it with Bruteforce, converting it to a PC save. Then I followed this guide and converted it back to PS3.
well... I don't know what to tell you, idk about ps3 save files... I'm sorry. If you finally get it to work, comment it here so future people can find it please :)

EDIT: Nevermind, read your guide and saw someone else already wrote an automated tool. Haha. Well, wasted my time with some coding there.
