It would be nice if people try at least to be rational.
Facial expressions have nothing to do with graphic and textures. It has something to do with design choices. They dropped the ball in that department, making the inversion in the story story less than optimal.
The facial expressions of the original were a masterpiece in itself, speaking without words to the player. Watch the intro of the original, and compare it to the intro of this game. Watch expecially Yunas face and emotions.
But nonetheless I prefer this version to the emulated PS2 version, becasue of the overall increase of the textures in general. It looks like a modern game now.
It's a stupid comparison because... Is it even necessary? Is this thread telling us we should go play the PS2 version instead of PC? The PS2 version has every playable character with two different faces you know?
EXCEPT for Tidus.....why the hell he looks like Sora now is past me, but kinda lame.
Tidus looked like Meg Ryan in the PS2 version too.
One thing does bother me though, and its that there wasn't any real work done on improving NPC faces XD
Its odd seeing a relatively expressive Main Character talking to a stoic block.
SERIOUSLY!!
I almsot shot coffee out of my nose reading this!!!
Now I cant get the image of Meg Ryan runnign around with a sword out of my head....
But honestly, I watched that video 3 dozen times, and honestly, I thought that the remastered faces looked better BUT if we're just talking about facial animations, I think that maybe Yuna maybe looked TOO hard in the original version. It's hard to judge. I imagine this particular scene keeps coming up because this one in particular is one of the more offensive ones, but if so, I don't think it will really matter.
I remember the faces and animations being REALLY important to my original experience playing the game, and reading and hearing about the opinions about this really bother me. Regardless, I'm not sure they've been altered enough to where it would make that big of a difference for me. I think I'd have to see the entire game.
Really looking forward to it, to be honest. I only played it once, but by the end, I was kinda ashamed I had put it off like a decade. Excited to experience International content.
It's not my job to make a remaster that is actually better looking than the original. That was the job of the developers.
Unfortunately I cannot un-see this now lol
