The infamous "Tidus Laugh", and the inevitable thread for it...
JAT (the voice actor for Tidus) recently put a video on his YT to help put some clarification on that scene, which has been used as an inside joke for fans of the game for over a decade now...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRWab0q9aw4

"'What's the deal with the laugh, James? Why the awkward, bad acted laugh?' Here it is, once and for all, James Arnold Taylor telling you about the Tidus laugh... It was supposed to be."

I'm pretty taken aback how people don't get the context of that laugh. Considering Tidus just learned that HIS FATHER IS THE ENORMOUS MONSTER SIN KILLING EVERYONE. Tidus is discouraged, confused, and bewildered. Yuna asks him what's wrong, and he tries to play it off. She lightheartedly asks him if he wants to scream, and he politely tries to explain it won't help (rightfully so). She tells him to try forcing himself to smile. He obliges, helping to diffuse the tension. Yuna then tells him to try laughing out loud. Cue the awkward, deliberately forced laughter...

It's so stupidly awkward, Yuna joins in laughing awkwardly to encourage him, and they both end up laughing genuinely together.

It's actually a very endearing scene and exchange between them, which is why I'm surprised how many don't grasp the purpose of it.

In any case, there you go. After over 10 years, JAT helped clear things up.

Now, onto the "TIDE-us"/"TEE-dus" pronounciation... :steammocking:
