seriously it was like they took EVERYTHING from ffx...........then just took a massive crap on it and tried on purpose to ruin EVERYTHING which made ffx so damn magical to begin with
3 moody girls
crap battle system
talking about periods and babies
dull as dishwater world now events have changed
seriously wtf?
It's kind of a personal opinion people have, I guess, but I didn't think the battle system was bad at all. The ATB system in X-2 was remarkably decent, especially given how it was in later games (looking at you, XIII and XIII-2).
Rikku and Yuna are far from "moody", and they never once mention periods or pregnancy. The world has plenty going on, including multiple distinctive groups who fight over their beliefs.
But then again you likely got five minutes in and quit, because you got distracted thinking about someone sleeping with your sister.
>"waifu"
>using "senpai" instead of fam outside of the 4chins :^)
mah niqqa
Damn.
Yeah, no, I finished the game twice over. They DEFINITELY never once mention periods, and the baby subplot is way WAY more about Wakka than any of the women in the story. XIII's battle system is nothing like X-2's, if you press the same button over and over on X-2 you're getting your arse handed to you past the tutorial chapter.
What would be wrong with Paine being a lesbian if she was? She never expresses attraction to anyone, and she has a hell of a lot of backstory, did you sleep through all of the stuff about the Den of Woe, or were you too busy trying to get ~sexy screenshots~ to pay attention to the story? Paine has a decent amount of character depth, and her past is made pretty damn clear if you actually bothered to notice any of it, especially the crimson spheres.
She's decidedly not mopey- given this is a game that came after TIDUS, who spends the first part of FFX doing nothing but complaining that he's cold and hungry, I'm surprised you're bothered by "mopey" characters anyway. She's reserved, but she isn't miserable, and her colder personality and sarcasm are a nice contrast to Rikku's hyperactivity and how Yuna gets caught up in it.
And the stuff with Nooj, Baralai and Gippal did most certainly not go nowhere, Shuyin was possessing one of the three EVERY time he made an appearence and probably only got out because their group visited that cave in the first place.
I'm curious did you just look at the game see that the protagonists are female and think instead of writing criticism which is representative of the negative aspects of the game I'll just make up some random stereotypical comments.
Like you said, I really wanted to play and enjoy this game especially after watching the Eternal Calm cutscene but I just can't bring myself to push on.
- I thought the game was going to be Yuna's journey (from the beginning) as she first joins the Gullwing and begins her transformation into the new person she has become whilst investigating this Tidus look alike. WRONG. There's a huge time gap with some character development on Yuna's part behind the scenes and a quick few sentences to explain it all... I can already tell this isn't going to pull me in.
- On top of that, the main characters are just not interesting to me (strangely Yuna and Rikku don't even remind me of their FFX counterparts, they seem very different and Pain is nearly a mute I mean at least Auron had words of wisdom) and the story isn't hitting on much so far.
- The battle system is okay (it takes some getting used to) but why would you replace the three-dimensional characters from FFX with generic enemies as party members? It's FF13-2 all over again, I'd rather you shove in new main characters than fight with fiends/brother(the oddball).
- Don't play it right after X
- Don't play it thinking it's X
I won't even try to give you reasons to play it because judging by your post and the succeeding posts, your mind is already set. Just think of those 2 things above and play it when you plan to give it a chance. It's in your library now anyway if you bought the game.
