Well obviously I didn't know that. I've never had the random encounters turned off before. Maybe when I first played the game because that's when I was into it the most, and didn't have as many games and played FFX constantly but that's nearly 20 years ago and I don't remember.
Doesn't matter, passed it now. Wasn't keeping count so thought I'll just dodge until I get hit, 338 in the end haha.
Just put equipment on that has no encounters on it. Dodging the lightning has a trick to it. There is location on the map where the lighting always strikes when you move to it. Otherwise I would say it's near impossible to get those 200 dodges. Well, at least to someone like me.
I noticed you can get 99 items and refresh for spheres does that include upgrade items for weapons ?
However, you can simply use a tool like the Farplane editor to do whatever you want with your game. If you want to skip the minigames and make your ultimate weapons, it can easily let you do that.
Unfortunately, the developers of this port didn't design it with the intention of using boosters without a keyboard. However, you can still use cheats by remapping the back buttons on your Steam Deck to F1, F2, F3, and F4. Here's what each function does:
F1: Toggles between normal speed, 2x speed, and 4x speed. This doesn't affect menus or cutscenes, so you won't be able to skip those long cutscenes.
F2: Supercharges characters. I haven't used this myself, but it likely makes everyone hit for maximum damage or something similar.
F3: Increases or decreases the enemy encounter rate.
F4: Activates auto-battle, perfect for those who prefer watching cutscenes over gameplay.
Also, there's a special menu that can be accessed with the 'Esc' key. I recommend binding one of the buttons to 'Esc'.
If you don't want to do remapping yourself, you can use community layouts where players share their control schemes for the game. Here’s how to change them:
Go to your game library and select Final Fantasy X.
Click on the controller icon or go to "Manage" and then "Controller Configuration."
In the controller configuration menu, select "Browse Configs" or "Community Layouts."
Browse through the available community layouts. You can read descriptions of every layout so look for ones specifically made for the Steam Deck or the ones that have back buttons remapped to f keys.
Once you find a layout you like, select it and apply it to your game.
