Nor this is Seymour : http://i.imgur.com/X2nhie0.jpg

I'm really disapointed. FFX is one of my favorite ff game, i can't count how many times i did it and i had a big crush on tidus when i was younger, but ... this is a totaly no no. I was excepting a lot from this remaster, but i feel betrayed in many ways. :/

Thats the only reason we need to put up with those bad face animations. Its sad, but the only truth. And there is nothing SE can do about it. And i heared they dont remember how they did it in the first place XD

Overall its still a good game - personaly i dont count it as best FF Game in the Series, but it was a solid game, and facial animations played a really important factor for me in showing the characters emotions.
Yeah, a lot of Kingdom Hearts 1's data was lost too so they had to redo most of the game when they started to work on 1.5 HD REMIX. Reason why a lot of sound effects are different in that game in particular.

I've read an interview that they didn't make any changes to Tidus's face and most of the "changes" are from using different lighting giving the illusion that Tidus looks different.

It's right, lot of light and shader aren't the same but i'm 100% sure that the faces arent the same and the simple proof is their lips : If you look at the old ones, lips arent "full", they have a little color gradiant effect a bit glossy but the news are only one mate color with the edges apparent. This is for the texture and for the models, it's the form of the faces who was changed. Tidus face is less long, yuna is more "chubby" and Seymour got vectically smashed.
(i didn't take a deep look at the others characters but i know lulu, wakka, rikku and auron are also different )
Seymour Got Vertically Smashed is a great name for a hipster band.

they outsourced the remaster
IMO Auron,Wakka and Lulu are good but they messed up Tidus and Yuna

If you're just looking at those comparison pics, I think at least the Yuna ones, and probably the others were done wrong. It looks like the PS2 screenshots were taken at a 4:3 resolution and stretched to 16:9, making their faces appear wider than they should be. Here's a more accurate comparison done by DigitalFoundry from when the HD remaster was released on consoles last year...

The differences look much less significant there, and seem to be more down to slightly different hair and lighting effects. The faces do look a bit different, but those comparison shots seemed to be exaggerating the wideness in the originals.

Edit: Linked to their article, since Steam apparently didn't let me embed the video.

I think I better like them before. They were a lot more expressive. Now they look too cartoony and contrast too much with their CGI models.

Uh what? The CGI models in the original contrasted a TON with the in game models.

You're right. That isn't Tidus. This is Tidus in-game: http://i.imgur.com/dR4Q30A.jpg.

I had the same reaction when seeing the first renderings of the remaster. Fact is, they weren't the final product.

Dude watch the video.

It's a slightly mixed bag for me and my nostalgia goggles. All of the new faces look fine (personally I think most actually seem better than the original ps2 faces), it just seems like Tidus and Yuna in particular lack emotion in some scenes. Honestly not that big a deal to me in the long run since I get a chance to replay this game that I absolutely love.

X-2, on the other hand, is all new to me since I never picked it up during the ps2 era. No idea how different that one is gonna look.
