The Shell Shockers that were mentioned are indeed crazy xp, and they cannot kill you (unless in Oversoul) as all their attacks are massive but non-lethal. However, they are somewhat rare, which can get annoying.
For late/end game, there are really three places you want to try out: the Chocobo Dungeon, the Farplane Abyss, and the Via Infinito. All have high-XP mobs, with varying degrees of difficulty (Via Infinito is the hardest).
I would really recommend not grinding a lot in the early and mid game. The story bosses are fairly easy to begin with, and there is so much optional content that you will accumulate a lot of XP naturally anyway.
Also, if you plan on doing the Creature Creator, you may not want to grind to max level right away. As you need to evolve fiends, you will need to level them a few times to complete their fiend tale - however, they join with an average XP value based on YRP's total XP, which means that if YRP are at lvl 99 the fiends may join at lvl 96+ and you may not be able to level them enough times to complete their fiend tales that way (there are other ways to gain fiend tale levels, but they are a lot more annoying).
