Not learning new overdrives?

During battles i keep getting messages pop saying my characters have learned new overdrives. However when i try to use them they are not available on the menu. Any ideas as to what the issue is and how to fix it?

What character is getting new overdrives?

Wakka gets his from blitzball
Lulu gets more as she learns more black magic
Khimari gets his from Lancet

Tidus gets them from using his overdrives
Yuna gets them from getting new summons
Auron gets them from watching jech spheres

Rikku only ever has mix, the most versitile overdrive in the game.

I think you are getting overdrive modes, such as Comradery, Warrior, Slayer, Healer... These are selected in the overdrive menu as an overdrive mode and governs how you get overdrive power.

You get overdrive modes from battle, not overdrives (except Tidus).
