Better off playing an emulated version
The cutscenes load too slow and any battle that has any dialogue or scene is impossibly slow. I have played this on a ps2 emulator with no issues. this is the last time i buy a square pc product.

What are you pc specs and OS? I get zero issues.
Tinvai Jun 19, 2016 @ 6:53pm
It's supposed to load way faster than any PS version - if it loads slowly, it's probably because your PC isn't meeting the recommended requirements.

Having played the PS2 versions of 10 and 10-2, having played through 10 on Steam, and currently playing through 10-2 on Steam... Steam version is not slow in itself.

The issue is likely with your computer and/or settings.

I had the same issue until I found out my laptop was trying to run the game with the integrated processor instead of my GPU.

Now that I'm using the GPU, it runs flawlessly.

My PC has hiccups sometimes when playing on an emulator. This one works fine.

it's not that the game is slow. often times in combat whenever an event happens or i use an item it will just sit there doing nothing for several minutes. i can press esc and then it will be fine for a little while. overall makes grinding very unenjoyable.

That sounds like the thread syncronisation of the phyre engine is getting borked because you can't hold a steady framerate. What's your hardware btw?

Also the use of the "e"word will get your thread locked if a mod sees it. I suggest changing the title asap.

Oh, I got that hanging issue myself during the beginning battles, especially on Besaid island. The game will hang and you havew to hit [Esc] then select [Resume] a few times before progressing.

That problem doesn't happen later in the game. Kaladein's mod kinda fixes it, but the prob still creeps up every once in a while.

cpu I7-4700mq 2.4ghz
ram 8g
gpu GeForce GT740M

As far as mentioning emulation. I use the bios from my own ps2 and own the discs for the game.

Thats still illegal (in most countries anyway). And that gpu is pretty weak, so that might explain your "slow" gameplay.

I have no issues with a GT720M.
Actually my specs are 1 rank lower and the game runs without any issues

so far all other aspects of the game are fine. it's only in combat that i get the "hang ups".
Plex Jun 20, 2016 @ 6:17pm
usual optimus problem again.
Its probably running off your integrated intel graphics.
update your nvidia drivers and set nvidia graphics as your preferred adapter in your nvidia control panel.

I get full 30fps on medium graphics with a GT540M, so I doubt that 740M is too weak.

Nvidia have yet to give the game an auto-select profile. The OP would have to add the game manually.

These hang-ups are the fault of the thread syncronisation on the part of the engine. Its exasserbated by not being able to maintain 30fps.

X-2 is a different story. The hangups in that are due to the game fluctuating between 30 and 60fps between battle and the results screen.
Plex Jun 20, 2016 @ 7:04pm
in recent driver versions they already added the profile.
I'm sure because I recently cleaned my driver using DDU, reinstalled it and the profile was already there.

If you wanna make sure, check for yourself by adding the profile after running the game.
(you have to run both FFX and FFX-2 since they are seperate executables)

But yea, the 740M is fine.

Even on my 8" Tablet with Intel Integrated graphics it runs better than on PCSX2 on that thing.
