The issue is likely with your computer and/or settings.
Now that I'm using the GPU, it runs flawlessly.
That sounds like the thread syncronisation of the phyre engine is getting borked because you can't hold a steady framerate. What's your hardware btw?
Also the use of the "e"word will get your thread locked if a mod sees it. I suggest changing the title asap.
Oh, I got that hanging issue myself during the beginning battles, especially on Besaid island. The game will hang and you havew to hit [Esc] then select [Resume] a few times before progressing.
That problem doesn't happen later in the game. Kaladein's mod kinda fixes it, but the prob still creeps up every once in a while.
cpu I7-4700mq 2.4ghz
ram 8g
gpu GeForce GT740M
As far as mentioning emulation. I use the bios from my own ps2 and own the discs for the game.
Thats still illegal (in most countries anyway). And that gpu is pretty weak, so that might explain your "slow" gameplay.
Actually my specs are 1 rank lower and the game runs without any issues
Its probably running off your integrated intel graphics.
update your nvidia drivers and set nvidia graphics as your preferred adapter in your nvidia control panel.
I get full 30fps on medium graphics with a GT540M, so I doubt that 740M is too weak.
Nvidia have yet to give the game an auto-select profile. The OP would have to add the game manually.
These hang-ups are the fault of the thread syncronisation on the part of the engine. Its exasserbated by not being able to maintain 30fps.
X-2 is a different story. The hangups in that are due to the game fluctuating between 30 and 60fps between battle and the results screen.
I'm sure because I recently cleaned my driver using DDU, reinstalled it and the profile was already there.
If you wanna make sure, check for yourself by adding the profile after running the game.
(you have to run both FFX and FFX-2 since they are seperate executables)
But yea, the 740M is fine.
Even on my 8" Tablet with Intel Integrated graphics it runs better than on PCSX2 on that thing.
