You should have plenty of level 1 and level 2 key spheres by story end. Level 3 (assuming you didn't get a lot from Biran and Yenke) can be bribed from the demonolith enemy in eithet the omega ruins, or inside Sin, but it costs a lot of gil. Level 4 can be bribed from the calm lands chimera brain fiend.
Here's the breakdown anyway:
Level 1 Key Spheres are dropped by Gui (Mushroom Rock), Master Coeurl (Omega Ruins), Puroboros (Omega Ruins), and Sand Worm (Bikanel Island). You can also Bribe an Imp (Cavern of the Stolen Fayth, 17,600 gil for 4). They can be found in a chest on the Mi'Ihen Highroad: Central area, and 2 chests in Moonflow: Southern Bank Road. It's also the first prize in the Chocobo minigame in the Calm Lands, Wakka's Minigame in Gagazet, Blitzball (as you mentioned), and Mi'ihen Highroad Agency, out front.
Level 2 Key Spheres are dropped by Defender X (Calm Lands), Tonberry (Cavern of the Stolen Fayth), Defender Z (Zanarkand Ruins), and Varuna (Omega Ruins). You can also Bribe Behemoth (Mt Gagazet, 460,000 gil). They can be found in a chest in Sanubia Desert: Central, a chest in the Calm Lands, and a chest in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. It's the first prize for the Chocobo Minigame in the Calm Lands, hyper dodger.
Level 3 Key Spheres are dropped by Defender Z (Zanarkand Ruins), Behemoth King (Inside Sin), Demonolith (Inside Sin), Machea (Omega Ruins). You can also Bribe Demonolith (Inside Sin, 900,000 gil for 40). They can be found in a chest in the Zanarkand Ruins Dome: Interior, and in a chest in Inside Sin: Sea of Sorrow. It's also the first prize in the Chocobo Minigame, and you have a chance at getting them in a chest in Omega Ruins.
Level 4 Key Spheres are dropped by Spectral Keeper (Zanarkand Ruins, Land Worm (Inside Sin). You can also Bribe Chimera Brain (Calm Lands, 196,000 gil for 2). They can be found in a chest in Gagazet: Mountain Trail, and a chest in Inside Sin: City of Dying Dreams. You also have a chance at getting them in Omega Ruins in the random chests.
Fortune spheres can only be farmed from the Earth Eater original creation in the monster arena. You get 2 (usually) per fight with it. Luck spheres can be farmed from the Greater Sphere original creation in the monster arena. Once again, usually 2 per fight.
If you're talking about the monster arena, you should be able to kill as many as you want.
Thank you! Do you have any idea on the other matter tho, the Spheres to fill the empty nodes?
I'd advice you to google "ffx farming stat spheres", it should get you up to speed. I'd explain this to you myself but other people have done it already and it's really quite a lot to type. :P
Thanks for all the help ^^
There's a monster arena enemy called Kottos. It can drop 40 of each sphere type. Say you want 40 ability spheres, hit it with an ability distiller or extract ability. Likewise for the other types.
The Don Tonberry trick works wonders for that. 99 sphere levels in 7 minutes.
Also, getting AP is easy. Getting all the required stat spheres is not.
Well I usually get as many attacks in as I can before it gets close enough to Butcher Knife.
Aside from fortune spheres, sphere farming is easy when you use Kottos.
We're not talking about the common spheres, we're talking about stat spheres, those are hard to get and take a lot of time.
You only need to max str, def and mdef to beat the dark aeons and penance. So you'll be very close to 255 in everything bar mdef once the grid is completed anyway. mdef speheres are dropped by one eye and it can be one-shot very early.
As for agility ~170 is enough and you'll get away with 92 luck or so (though aim will be needed to hit dark sandy and dark mindy).
