I have never used supercharge and likely will not either. Encounter rate I have set to high early on to grind a bit at Kilika and Mi'ihen. Nothing excessive, but the way FFX's AP system works is that if you're strong, you'll make lots of overkills and thus get way more AP than you would otherwise, and thus you stay strong. I hope it lasts at least. It'll also make capturing monsters a lot easier. No encounter rate I use if I need to backtrack or do something else, very useful as well.
Supercharge and max gil are a Godsend for The Last Mission if anyone is interested in at least seeing that just for the sake of completion.
I've played through FF10,,, Three? Four? Times already. No way I'm ever bothering to grind for gil. And no way that I'm not taking advantage of the speed boosts, more/no encounters or the auto berserk status.
