Dark Bahamut
I definitely need some help with this one. I have every stat maxed except Luck, which is at about 120. I don't really see 255 Luck helping me with anything other than missing slightly less often.

1) Is there some better armor combination for Dark Bahamut than Auto-Protect, Haste, Phoenix, and Ribbon? I don't really see what it would be if there was, but suggestions are welcome.

2) Is there some better way to get rid of Impulse's Full Break than using 3 turns casting Dispel on everyone?

3) Should I bother equipping Yuna with Break HP Limit armor so her aeons can absorb another Mega Flare?

4) Is there some quicker way to max Luck than punching Greater Sphere and Earth Eater to death? Each kill takes about 3 minutes, so I'd really rather not spend all that time if there's a faster way to kill them.

This guy is so much harder than the previous ones, I'm really stuck here. Any tips/suggestions?

p.s. save your time by not posting these or similar:

"hurrrr y u not uese zantomato ez lulz."

"y u gotz max evesein nd acerercy u doant ned taht lulz nubly"

Dispel full break from at least 2 characters. He does impulse after you hit him X times (i don't remember how many) so make sure his turn doesn't come right after an impulse. For mega flare, i used auto-life on at least 2 characters (if I had time to do it only on 1 character, i did it on tidus, then it was his turn so i could use a mega phoenix).

for accessories i had one auto-haste,protect,phoenix,ribbon on tidus. protection against petrify, auto-haste,auto-protect,auto phoenix on wakka. and an incomplete accessory for rikku with auto-haste and auto-protect.

hit him with quick attacks and take your time, if you're not careless it should be ok.

Another strategy is to never attack bahamut, just letting him normal attack one of your characters that has counterattack so he never uses impulse, but i find it boring.

good luck

EDIT: oh, and if you're using items, do it using Quick Pockets so you don't waste turns

Thanks for the advice. For some reason I didn't think to only use Dispel twice and save turns that way. I'll think I'll skip on the counterattack thing because it falls in the same area as Yojimbo.

Impulse inflict break so you do ned to dispel. On Megaflare turn, summon an Aeon to eat it if you don't want to use Hyper Mix G or auto-life.

Remember this dispel thing well because Penance does the same thing on his 2nd form single-target attack.

If you don't lose count of the 5-hit-counter on Impulse, you can easily beat him.

Break HP Limit on Yuna doesn't alter her Aeons in the slightest, sadly. I recently boosted Yuna from 9999 to about 57000, as part of filling and activating the entire Sphere Grid, and her Aeons didn't get any more HP. Valefor still has 14k, none of them broke 50k.

If you want to beef up an Aeon to take the hits *and* survive, you need to use the option to pay Power Spheres for +100 HP... ever so slowly until they have around 52000 Max HP.

1) I use Break HP Limit, Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect and Ribbon in all my characters, with 99999 HP (I grinded a lot before this battle). It's useful because Bahamut can only deal less than 20000 HP with impulse (with max defense and not full broken).

2) Other than killing yourself, no :p.

3) Yes, if she has more than 20000 HP, so you can sacrifice one of your other abilities.

4) No. Turbo speed x4, auto battle and entertain yourself with something else while your characters kill the enemy.

Break HP limit specifically has no effect on Aeon HP, which is what the OP was asking for...

True, I didn't remember. Still, it can help in the fight. Let the aeons die, because they receive like 40000 HP damage.

tust pay yojimbo 100k gil if but make sure your save before hand then if he fails load game again and repeat untill he does his move Zamato worked for me on all dark aeons on ps4 and ps3 and even on ps2 back in the day

Using Yojimbo works but takes all the fun out of it. What you can also do to avoid impulse is cast haste onto bahamut (yes on bahamut) and just spam guard and have 3 counter-attackers on the front line. Any of wakka,Auron,Tidus and Kimhari, Also works without casting haste onto bahamut. This strat takes a long time but you can't game over. It was how I beat it for the first time. Wasn't keen on farming 297 dark matter.

When his OD guage fills bring in Yuna, summon aoen and defend, or have Rikku use hyper mighty guard and swap her back out for your counter attacker.

You can predict and prepare for impulse. It uses it after you've attacked it 5 times. So be ready with dispel or rikku's hyper mighty guard mix to auto life yourself.

Other than dark yojimbo and the dark magus sisters (who are hard to hit without high luck) the others aren't that hard.

Armour: Auto Phoenix, Auto Haste, Ribbon on one armour with the 2nd and 3rd member having the same but subsituting ribbon for stoneproof.

Use Tidus, Wakka and Rikku with Celestials too.

BHPL is pretty useless since if you manage to survive certain dark aeon's overdrives, then they often inflict every status ailment in the book. Its just more efficient to autolife/auto phoenix yourself and purge the ailments at the same time.

Dark Magus sisters is a whole nother ball game. You need to start by casting aim 5 times and using your sixth turn to switch Yuna in to summon your own sisters to tank Delta Attack (Yuna will need to have auto haste in order to switch her out as early as possible if you haven't raised her stats). Aimx5 will allow you to hit Sandy pretty reliably and you need to take her out as she's the easiest to hit. Once one sister falls, delta attack is out of the picture.

Penance.....

Replace Ribbon/stoneproof with Def+20. BHPL is detrimental to this figth as your overdrives will take longer to charge.

Focus on one arm at a time (right one first) then once they're gone, mix trio of 9999 (unless you want to rely on x potions) and then quick pocket a mega potion to heal yourself before penance's standard attack comes round.

Then attack the body with quicks hits (same for arms btw) until the first arm respawns. Quick hit that 2-3 times, then Attack Reels it (you need to be able to get 12 hits reliably which is not easy)

Kill the other arm then attack the body. Repeat until its about to lose its 3rd million of hp (it has 12 million!) Quickly mix ultra nulall for the cheerx5 equivelence of defence before its new attack happens. This will inflict armour and mental break which MUST be dispelled asap on whomever it hits. Failure to do so with result in that character dying and you cannot afford to waste time reviving and remixing.

Repeat part 1 strategy: quick attack 1 arm, then 2-3 times quick hit on 2nd then attack reels it. Then quick hit the body until the arms respawn (making sure to do a dispel-check)

Good luck.

Edit: forgot to say mix eccentric once your chherx5 is in place so immolation with still charge your overdrives quickly. Use comrade overdrive mode for everyone throughout the dark aeons/penance fight.

One ribbon is enough and you get that from the m arena's 99 dark matter reward. 2/3 is unecessary.
