will yuna lose her spells?
i read online that making yuna a black mage is a good idea since i got the rod of wisdom from the temple. so i got her water, fire, thunder and blizzard but i want to go for the -ra spells wich mean i have to backtrack to where lulu starts and go down from there. will i lose those said spells if i move back to that point?

Since you activate a node it will not be deactivated no matter where you walk on the sphere grind, unless you use a clear sphrere and put something else on it (doesn't work on ability/magic nodes btw).

No, but it will cost a lot more sphere levels to do that. I honestly don't recommend it unless you're going to move someone else over to the white mage areas of the sphere grid. Assuming you're using the expert sphere grid, there's actually a point pretty early on where it's a quick trip to swing over and get the tier 2 elemental spells (fira, etc), and then swing right back into white mage spells.

so it would be a good idea to, let's say, start over and ditch those basic spells and keep going as white mage and then branch out to the -ra spells?

I would say so. Having a white mage is pretty important. A lot of the later spells become really important, and in the case of elemental spells, once you get a new tier, the previous tiers because essentially worthless (you're never going to use thunder once you have thundara).
What I usually do is (this applies to Expert Sphere Grid ONLY) flop Yuna and Lulu right away on the grid. This gives both characters the base level black magic spells at the start and cure. Then, just like what Bloodhawk said later, Lulu can sneak over and get the -Ra level spells then put her back on the white mage path.

This is the best way I think, they way Bloodhawk explained it, however if you do just take Lulu's path you can remedy this by just taking Kimhari down the white mage opath since he starts there anyway. I think it's very handy to take Kimhari down the white path since Yuna is out of your control for a decent portion of the game. It's what I always do anyway.

The only problem is that Lulu's path has very small amounts of agility (expert grid) and Yuns's path has more +magic stat and way more agility. She becomes the better black mage if you just quickly backtrack for the fira spells etc and use black magic spheres later to get the -ga spells and take her down the white mage path.

This also happens when you try to take everyone down auron's path, which I have done (except Kimhari) and make the party super strong early to mid game but also super slow so it ends up taking a lot longer to cycle everyone in and out of battles so they can all get AP.
