FFX Game Crashing before entering Besaid village with Wakka
The game just crashes with no crash report, right after the moment the two crusaders warn Tidus and Wakka of the fiends on the road when you are supposed to continue into Besaid Village. TO be clear, it crashes while the next area is loading.

Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but some of the Zanakard people before Sin's appearance were all "black", as in they had no skin textures or anything, just pitch black. Also, the head of that squid bos (Nautilus) also suffered that skin-textureless black coloration on just his head.

I hope that is not indicative of files not being properly installed...

System Information
OS Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, DirectX11
System: ASUS Notebook G60Vx Series, Intel Core Duo CPU P7350 @ 2GHz 2GHz
RAM 4.00 GB, 64 bit OS
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M

Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks!

The game has crashed on me several times. Once during a boat trip between Kilika and luca and a second time when moving between luca docks. Both during scene transitions. Its a problem with the game in how it handles vram. Once it runs, out, it crashes to desktop. My laptop gpu has 8gb vram so I don't know how its going through all that.

Just checked. Your gpu (onboard really) only has 1gb of vram. So a game would go through that pretty quickly.

Yeah my gpu isn't exactly the greatest but I have been able to play games such as Fallout 3, Deux Ex Human Revolution, Half Life 2 etc (not really new games to be honest, but FFX isn't exactly a new game either) without any issues. And I have the minium requirements to run it... The comparison to FFX might not be good I admit, but I am gonna try to see if I can fix it. Still researching...

The problem is the phyre engine (which ffx uses) reuses the same texture data over and oaver and over again rather than caching it like most games do. Thats why it runs out of vram so fast.

Sorry for replying so late... But, I ended up just updating the drivers and everything was resolved. I ended up playing through the whole game on my system with no problems, except some lag during the cinematic sequences, but it never crashed. Of course, I played with low graphic settings, but it worked.
