The reason you don't find super detailed instructions is because it's super simple.

Unlock all the monsters in the arena by catching 10 of every monster in every area.

Fight the special monsters you unlock for +4 spheres.

Use those +4 spheres to max all your stats.

The end.

You can use the Destruction Spheres you can buy from the Arena guy to delete stat spheres at will, so you have enough room to max all stats comfortably.

Don't waste your time trying to get HP to 99,999 it is actively bad. 9,999 is enough to beat everything in the game.

Is there anything in particular you'd like more details on?

You don't need max stats across the board. Once Strength, Defence, MDefence are at 255, you can get away with 85 Luck assuming your Agility stats are in the 170 range. Maxing magic is not very useful since only one arena enemy needs strong magic to be taken down. Anima will deal with it nicely via her Pain attack.

well i just cheated and used the get all items parameter so i dont need to do the whole monster arena thing. this will be my fifth playthrough of this game.

i just want to know which spheres do i delete or get rid of to change to which stat. or is it really all just the blank ones? i know there are +1magic or +1 str. i figure i get rid of those but do i just replace them with their particular +4 counterpart? because i can easily just fill out the entire sphere grid and i have every single skill already. i can use master spheres to fill out EVERYTHING.. then do i just pick a stat and raise that to what i want and then move to the next one? i figure theres gotta be a way to do this seeing as with the get all items thing i pretty much have infinite spheres.

or do i just go and clear the ENTIRE sphere grid and fill one corner with +4 str then move on to other stats once ive reached 255.

im not really trying to get stupid crazy 99999999 across the board i just want the "maxed stat" definition... 255 everything luck i think 130? some say 85? then i want to just go for it.

Fill as needed. There are more than enough free slots so you don't need to worry about space at all, assuming you do not plan on going for 99,999HP (and you shouldn't, it's actively bad).

There is no need for a plan because you can just fill things as you want, and you can't delete skills anyway, only stats. There are no spheres better than +4, so feel free to just fill everything with that, and delete anything that isn't +4. No need to think ahead there, anything can be easily undone and redone at will anyway.

It really is as simple as picking what you want to max, then just filling everything with that type until it's maxed. Then move on to the next. Nothing special to be careful about at all.

255 is the max you can get in anything. The reason you see some lower values for certain stats (mainly Luck and Agility) is that you don't technically need them to be max to get the most relevant benefits against all bosses in the game, but of course there isn't a real downside to maxing them either. It matters mostly because Luck is EXTREMELY annoying to farm both the node spheres AND the activator spheres for, and so people who don't just cheat them in want to farm as little as they have to. Magic is the second most annoying to farm for, but as was rightly mentioned it is also pretty much irrelevant - the only boss you'd want high Magic for is, ironically, the very same boss you farm the Magic Spheres from.

so i shouldnt worry about well.. mechanics and not having enough room? sounds pretty cool to me. im also using the expert sphere grid as well. so i should have enough space to just get 255 in everything without having to micro manage for certain space or mechanics like i read luck +evasion = luck evasion and accuracy.. but if theres enough space then imma just fill it all the way up with master spehres first to complete the grid. then pick a stat and start changing nodes. sounds simple enouigh then.

thanks

There is more than enough room to just max all stats, the only time you run out of nodes is if you try to also go for 99,999HP - but as I keep mentioning, that is a bad idea and you should not do it.

The Expert Sphere Grid actually has slightly less space total than the regular one iirc, but as mentioned, it just won't matter. You have more than enough room to very comfortably max every stat.

As for stat interaction, if you max everything then there's nothing to worry about. Some threshold values can matter if you want to minimize your farming and only get as many spheres as absolutely necessary, but it's always more = better pretty much. Nothing to worry about.

Since he used the Cheat for All-Items, a HP-Break Armor can be nice tho for D.Bahamut / D.Yojimbo and Penance, this way he could complete cheese these fights.

Anyways, for the Stats you should aim for 9999HP/999MP, along with 255 STR/DEF/MDEF, then you can go for ~170 Agility.

Then you can simply go for 255 Luck and ~30 Evasion/Accuracy and you are set if I remember the values correctly (since you are using the booster, this is the fastes way to "max" the stats for the Dark Aeons/Penance, due less nodes needed).

How long would the process take? The point of maximizing stats would be to ultimately beat Penance (without Zanmato).

I've finished the game twice (on PS2), but as for post-story content, both times I stopped after I beat Omega Weapon in the ruins. On my second playthrough I had even printed out a stat maximization guide but once again got bored after the final boss. Even the simplest monster arena creations seemed very difficult at this point.

I usually don't quit like this; for all other FF games I have beaten every superboss, but obviously with X the journey seems so much longer with numerous hard bosses on the way, while in games like VII-IX you don't need to put much extra effort into the superbosses. But I really, really would like to beat Penance one day, especially now that the HD version is available on Steam. Not having beaten Penance is like that itch in the back of your head. At the same time I just hate the idea of having to grind for dozens of hours, which I have never really done in any game.

...

You don't HAVE to grind. Just use the master/attribute spheares you have when you use the max all items parameter. [Allthough, actually going through with the process of getting everyones stats, just so is another form of grind]

If I'm going to do this after 10+ years of waiting I'm obviously not going to resort to cheating.

The only part that takes an ungodly amount of time is raising Luck. Now, it's entirely possible to beat all superbosses without raising Luck at all, but it will be magnitudes more annoying. A compromise is to get Luck up just a bit, to around 85. That will still be very annoying, but doable.

It's hard to put a number on how long things will take exactly. You need to capture 10 of all monsters in all areas, which is subject to some luck (Tonberry and Simurgh say hi). Then you need to unlock at least a few Celestial Weapons (ideally Tidus, Rikku, Wakka) and a few overdrives (Tidus/Wakka). Once you have CWs, you can start farming the creations in the Monster Arena (I usually go in the order of STR->DEF->HIT->MDF->AGI->LCK; MAG is entirely optional and not really needed for anything). You may also want to use the AP conversion trick to farm levels quickly.

If you're efficient about things and know what you're doing, the whole process will take maybe 15 hours or so? Guessing here. If you're less efficient, it can take a lot longer, but it won't be 100 hours. The actual stat farming will be very quick, it's the capturing monsters and farming Celestial Weapons that will take the most time.
