Chocobos Keep Running Away

No matter what I did, the Chocobos would keep running away.
Yes, I had first strike.
Yes, I manually sorted the greens to the top of the list
Yes, it was working fine before
Yes, I followed every guide on the internet
Yes, I googled my specific problem.

and yet there were no answers and I almost turned this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game off. However, the reason I'm making this thread is because I found the solution. If you talk to clasko you will see a JUNK FOOD option in the menu at the ranch. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE GYSHAL GREENS IN YOUR INVENTORY THE BIRDS WILL IMMEDIATELY FLEE. They will not attack you, they will just flee. If you do have them in your inventory, they will almost always stick around and at least attack you once, allowing you the opportunity to give them any greens.

Mystery solved, I hope it helps at least one person because I was stuck on this for about 5 hours today.
