Performance on Steam Deck?
Anyone heard anything or experienced how this plays in the steam deck? Steam says it's "playable", but I'm wondering if it has the same issues that PC users have with the game.

It is playable for sure. I have encountered one issue (which I came to post about actually) and that is Lulu's overdrive not working. Other than that the game runs great and I'm about halfway through the main story which I've played exclusively on my deck. Also the battery life does quite well with the game too (which probably isn't too much of a surprise).

Just remember that on the opening launcher, you need to go into the settings and bump up the texture quality, change the language (mine defaulted to Japanese) and the resolution if you'd like.

Do you need untitled project x on it? Or does it work straight off the download?

FFX seems fine. Instead FFX-2 doesn't work at all. It crashes after loading (chochobo automatic saving advice).

Works fine on the deck, the launcher is the only reason it's not flagged as green. Absolutely no issues at all playing it, performance is good and battery life is fantastic, easily 5-6 hours or more.

Getting untitled project x to work is something else entirely, took me about 2 days of messing about to get it to work without instantly crashing the game or dropping the frame rate to 5 and making battles take 30 seconds to load.

Once I got it working though (using a mix of the 0.8.7 and 0.9.1 files) it works great, got shared AP, speedup and JP voices working well.

Had no issues with X, but X-2 keeps crashing at random times every 30-60 minutes.

You can still probably play then beat X-2, but its an unpleasant experience to do so.

Properties
Compatibility
Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool
Proton Hotfix

FYI leaving the deck in Sleep Mode doesn't stop the game's in-game timer. So your playtime will continue to go up.

How are you getting such good battery life? I’m only getting 1:30 on a full charge.

as I read - Times are in between 1:30 or 2 hours and 7:30 or 9:30 hours
dependent on Games and your handwork for each Game with the settings
if you have additional Stuff like a Fan at the back ... it is lower
overall it is very low like an AMD laptop - not really comparable to other handhelds
a lot of people only play with power cable - that is the best joke about Steam Deck

I was specifically asking about FFX how he was getting 4 hours? I’m only getting 1.5 hours on medium settings.

Other games though I get great battery life.

just follow the Video Guide
- there is no 4K at Steam Deck :(
- FFX is running on 30 FPS
What Games are you playing with Battery over 1:30 Hours?
