whats the purpose of the pot monster ?

Honestly, I think it's mostly Nostalgia. Pots have been a thing for a long time in FF's history, but the FFX one is certainly one of the least useful incarnations.

It has no practical use, just flee.

Fun fact: you can in fact kill it. With Zanmatou and nothing else. It doesn't drop anything.

well i often catch monsters with x4 speed , faster encounter rate and auto attack , can only do that if my party is strong enough in the cavern because of that enemy

You can also kill it with Doom.

The pot can give you some items - frag grenade adn Elixir are still good items.

With Doom, all you're really killing is yourself. By draining away time of you life.

It has some useful items, but it's just not worth going for them. Like, seriously. Farm gil and bribe monsters, you'll fare better than trying to get Elixirs from Magic Pots.

Yes, of course, but I mean, you have to actually hit several eyes correctly to get Elixirs. Which is just an exercise in futility.
