Also note that the way Lulu's overdrive works, the counter does NOT automatically go up by 1 for each rotation - how many rotations are needed for +1 on the counter (as well as the maximum possible counter) varies with what spell you choose, how many rotations you already have, and Lulu's MAG stat. For example, Ultima Fury has a hard cap of 4 regardless of how many rotations you manage; while for e.g. Fire, you'd cap at 7 for 0 MAG, 12 for 128 MAG, and 16 for 255 MAG.
In any event, if you do want to keep on using it, maybe there's some controller settings you can change? It's possible there's a throttle on the inputs somewhere, or something like that.
