Can I run this on my laptop?
I really loved FFX when I had a PS2, and I'm wanting to play on my laptop. Problem is, I have a mid level Asus. Intel Core i3 1005G1 1.2 GHz, 8GB RAM, no dedicated graphics card. I'd hate to download it and not be able to play, but I can't afford a new laptop right now. My inclination is I'd have issues playing, and I know the minimum says a 2 GHz processor, but I also know that some processors can handle a higher work load.

Thoughts?

If I try it on this laptop and it fails, can I download it again on a new computer (when I get one) without having to pay for it again?

These might be simple questions to answer, but I'm new to all this.

Thanks for your help!

this game works on a dual core
on a i3 it should turn with no problems

you can download it as many times as you want but only from your steam account
it's the same for all the content available on steam
you pay once and you download it as many times as you want

No dedicated graphics card may put a spike in this. The game is surprisingly demanding for an old title, a common side effect of remastering old games.

I doubt your laptop can run it, in all honesty, but it may be possible that with lower settings it can still handle it.

As stated above, once you buy a game on Steam it's yours, and you can download it through the client as many times as you like and on as many devices as you like. So you're not losing it on other computers. You can also refund the game within a certain period if you find out you really can't run it, or can't run it well enough.

Should run 30FPs no problem.
Despite yours being literally the weakest iGPU of that lineup it is suprisingly powerful.

If it doesn't run well, you can also refund it as long as you've played less than 2 hours.

I've been running this game on a laptop with an i5 6200U, HD 520, and 8GB of RAM on low settings. GHz are only one part of CPU performance and this remaster was released a few years before more recent CPU models.. Just check out this benchmark of your CPU against mine to see how things have changed: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-6200U-vs-Intel-i3-1005G1/2556vs3560

I say give it a shot, but prepared to refund it if you do so, No point in rushing to an enjoy a game if the experience will be subpar. I myself grew up with X and X-2 but didn't really get around to this version till last year.

Update: I'm around 25 hours of gaming on lowest video settings and everything is running smoothly. I tried on medium video quality and it froze. The graphics on low quality don't seem much different than the PS2 version years ago, but I'm still really loving the game. Thanks everyone.

I'm glad you can run it! Enjoy!

Going to give it a go here. Yikes, 32 GB install! That pretty big even for an older remake.
