Couldn't get LV.1 key spheres from Chocobo Eater

I follow the guide from some gamer place that the best way is to knock out Chocobo Eater out of cliff so you can get 2 LV.1 Key spheres. (Knock it down with total 1200 dmg and then give it total 500 dmg when it laid on the ground...)
I did try 3 times, the battle result always gave me 2 Skill Spheres only. Is there a particular hint I didn't get?

Have you; Distill Power, Distill Mana, Distill Speed or Distill Ability one your Weapons or used the; Skill Extract Power, Extract Mana, Extract or Speed Extract Ability ? the Ability and Skill make ability/speed/power/mana spheres.

That could be it. Distilling or Extracting any enemy will replace its normal drops with the desired drop. If they have the same drop, then they will drop more. Don't distill/extract a boss.

The chocobo eater boss has a push/pull gimmick to it. You must topple it and push it off the edge to get the key spheres. I don't remember if overkill is needed to get the double drop? But a double drop is possible.

Thank you guys! I got it. It seems Waka's weapon had 'Distill Ability' and after I changed it. The drop became desired spheres!

Note that this can be used to your advantage, too - a boss that drops a large amount of items when defeated can be distilled to drop the same amount of spheres. Very useful at endgame when you need a lot of spheres.

Distill abilities/items don't give skill spheres, though. They only give ability/speed/power/mana spheres.

I'm guessing they meant Ability Sphere, possibly a translation thing if they play on a different language?
